Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Firstly … thanks…

What’s the story with WT revenue ? This seems a bit out of whack …

Also Manly revenue is tiny … Penn wouldn’t contribute much as you have stated …
that's the amount of profit the Holman Barnes Group reported in 2024. The point being they are making a ton of money, yet only contribute a very small percentage to the Wests Tigers.

If I need to draw a further picture …

My point being that the Sharks and Manly cheapskate too, but they tend to make the finals more often than not and we haven’t in 15 years …

That’s quite a massive difference when half the teams make the finals every year ..

No one is more unhappy about the Tigers owners than me … but they provide an easy scapegoat to point to whilst we continue this ineptitude… also …nothing is changing in that department

No picture necessary, i was just answering the question and highlighting the large gap between profit and investment. I am no fan of HBG however i also don't want to start up the arguments in relation to them and their ownership. Reason being i think they have gotten out of the way and it looks like they are tipping more money into the team based on what i have seen this season and since the Vlandy's lecture they got. Until they blow the joint up again i think we should all be focusing on the team and their performance rather than the distraction of HBG.

It will be interesting to see the figures for investment this year once they publish their financials in the next few months.

The figure quoted is neither HBG/ Wests Tigers revunue or profit…hence my question…

Seems you are on my side with the new focus … let’s hope the whips start cracking soon…

Cronulla makes the 8 every year, and I wouldn’t say they are flush with money, pathways or juniors …

They concentrate on good experienced coaching and having a solid squad though …
I'm not sure who owns the Sharks and how much they tip in, but I've thing Indian know it's the Sharks have one of the best and strongest pathways setups in the country. They aggressively recruit from all over the country, bring players in when they're young, send them to a local school then bring them up through the grades.

They're miles ahead of us. We have a larger local nursery, but we operate like a Video Ezy chain, miles behind the times and current methods

Their pathways are nothing special compared to the average …although they must obviously be at least a bit better than ours looking at results

Why are they ahead of us ? What is stopping us from even having a quarter of the success they have ?

Is there any reason to think things might change for us?

John Morris had a significant role in the Sharks' Pathways and the club had one of the first academy facilities at Cronulla High.

They've been competing for trophies across all grades for years. We don't even make the finals. They are a lot better than us. They have proper systems in place and professional people managing the processes. They invest wisely in the right places.

And no, currently there's no way things can change for us. HBG do not give any money for us to build the systems that we need in order to be a development club.

Blore offers nothing in attack, great defence though. He doesn’t move the needle even slightly
Sukkar is just as good as Blore and potentially better.
Surely if we recruit an edge back rower as depth cover it is someone who is an attacking threat, not just a plodder.
If Blore was prepared to knuckle down and become a more permanent middle forward, that would be a different story and he could be a good recruit.

When will that start having some positive influence on their results?
You’re looking too narrow Tom. They finished top 4 last year & made silly decisions to their top roster.

I’m talking about underneath that. They have invested in a halves academy, a Fiji academy & have recruited a lot of top line kids across the country to have a production line in the future. Unfortunately there’s a few Tiger Jnrs in there
