OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

Injuries have made a huge impact , May was fine when we had KPP on one side and SamF on the other both attacking , they both went forward we also had Hunt coming in to punch holes for 10 / 15 minutes and it was clearly working , flogging May on hear is crazy , poor bloke has played nearly all games and had a crack , maybe he is also playing with injury , and we have no replacements left , Take APi , KPP , Sam F , Hunt out of you team you gonna have issues , we simply don’t have the reserves , not one of out reserves is even close to KPP or Sam. Same for API and Hunt , none
Most of those early games where Hunt was playing you could see momentum change when he came on the field, we are probably missing him more than we realise. I do however find it hard to blame our middles, they are getting us upfield yet our halves and outside backs are not converting that to points or repeat sets...obviously they are going to tire quicker than our opposition and a player like Terrell who is being asked to play big minutes is going to conserve his energy to get through the game and will fade at the back end of each half. People moaning about Terrell taking 4th tackle hit ups, why the hell is Api passing it to him on the 4th...he is not our 13.

Didnt he last like 15 mins in the origin and have to get yanked off? I didnt watch, but it sounds like he has a long way to go before hes near first grade ready.
He looked gassed early on, however i do believe his second stint was much better.

Sounds like the motor isn't a turbo, more like those old-fashioned VW Beetles.
Something is missing and it’s hard to work out what it is as most players who never run at more than half pace do it for self preservation, but this big fella Christian Taupau-Moors doesn’t cone across as the type of person who has much fear.
Surely we have a coach who can ring him 10 times a day telling him to run the ball at speed until it sinks in?
Regarding his game for NSW u/19’s it did not look like he was gassed to me, more like stage fright.
He let in a try from defending lazily close to his line and only made 1 average hit up in his first stint, but watching him closely it looked like he was a bit unsure and holding back because of it.
His form is up and down like a yoyo, one week he shows signs of being the enforcer he has potential to be and the next week he is a powder puff.
I think it’s something mentally holding him back more than lack of talent or physical attributes.

Jesus mate .. if you didn’t watch why would you frame it like that .. The origin game for 19s was ridiculous as the Qld pack monsters the NSW pack because Josh Jackson put on a bunch of one out workers and took moors off after 9 mins for no reason at all.. to top it off Jackson had the team playing exactly like the men’s team in that was 5 hit ups and the ridiculous block play and the wingers just jammed the person getting the ball out the back every time .. I was so angry at his bench use and predictable game plan as usual the qld team ate it up like it was ball work that they knew what was coming.. so saying moors was yanked is ridiculous.. even Dayne Jennings was made to look average because of the terrible ball he was getting under pressure..

I framed it by explaining that I didnt watch it and explained what I had heard lol

His effort yesterday was taking the absolute piss

I partly blame Benji for giving him far too many minutes over the course of a season. Just because he can play 80 minutes, doesn't mean he should.
We really need to give him 40-55 minutes max. Both seasons, his form dipped at the back end of the year. Last year, he did seem to care though. Over the last month this year, there seems to be no shits given from him. A real concern.

May can overplay his hand at times and forget the basics same as Api. I don’t believe it’s for a lack of care at all. He’s clearly not at 100% like many of our players.

Benji started playing him in that 60/70min role with twal being that 70/80min workhorse. Unfortunately we lost too many in our forward rotation and may had to go back to unsustainable minutes. The whole team is burnt out.

I think 60-70 minutes IS unsustainable for him.

Like every other forward i would prefer quality minutes on the field even when they play less time.Naturally this varies between each player but the traditional 80 minute forward should be a very rare thing in modern football especially since the 6 again fiasco adds an even bigger drain to a players fatigue level.
This extra fatigue factor is all on Vlandy's so more points are scored in a game but management or lack of management is completely on each individual club/coach and we have it horribly wrong.

It's not physical fatigue. Every player is fatigued this time of year. Something is going on in his head whether an external or internal issue. Some of his efforts are so unlike him & unlike what Benji preaches.

The way he plays combined with his high minutes, I do think physical fatigue has played a role. Last year, he fatigued as well. Last year, I still felt he had a dig though. The last month or so, his effort areas, particularly with the ball have been found wanting.
