No coach is successful without a good squad. You need to look at the seasons any coach was successful and look at their squads/clubs/ resources , support, and then compare that to what they are coming to before you realistically consider that trey can make an improvement.
I 💯 agree that any coach needs the required quality of players to be able to get the desired results and it’s as clear as day that we lack class out wide even at full strength and we clearly do not have the required depth in certain positions.
The recent signings of Jake Averillo and Jayden Brailey help fill a couple of voids, but it’s not enough, we are still short of an NRL quality back up centre, we really need two when you consider Jake Averillo will also likely be our best back up fullback.
We also ideally need one more NRL quality back up winger, one with genuine speed would be nice.
We need an NRL quality back up edge back rower and an NRL quality 13 if we could find someone, but there are simply none out there at the moment.
We also ideally need an extra NRL quality prop, but we would need o offload one of May, Pole, Twal, Fainu, Hunt or Seyfarth before we can realistically add another proven NRL quality prop.
The problem being Benji has chosen most, if not all of our current squad and he has also chosen or been well aware of the risk in paying our high cost players even though they have not yet done anything to prove they are elite players capable of providing value for the big money contracts we have agreed to pay them.
