Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why would Martin want to come here and can someone provide 1 example of when a big money external recruit actually worked out?

I think SM is correct focus on pathway
As long as that focus is based around a very significant funding increase. I am not optimistic at all and fear we will be discussing this near end of 27 year.

I wouldn't talk until after Mad Monday. 🤣

If there is one club who know how not to have a disastrous Mad Monday it is us,the only times we have a horror Mad Monday is when we actually make the semis and lose.
Highly unlikely for that to change this century as i can't see semi final football until 2100+

I think his better days are starting to slip away.
I agree.
Liam Martin has been an outstanding player and who could blame him from now trying to cash in and get a big money deal before he retires, but I agree that there are signs of wear and tear from all the years of ripping in and playing above his weight catching up with him.
This time next season I’d say Jacob Preston, Tallis Duncan, Hudson Young and the young Roosters player Salesi Foketi will all be better quality players than the ageing Liam Martin.

liam martin and kpp at second row

front row
May and Sam F

Twal at 13
Salary Cap won’t allow his to have 4 players up around the million dollar mark, so if we were able to potentially sign a high quality player such as Liam Martin, Jacob Preston, Tallis Duncan, we would either have to forgo keeping Samuela or offload someone else already on big money such as Jahream or Terrell,
On current form a combination of Twal and Seyfarth could comfortably give us the same impact as what Terrell is, but the issue is we desperately need Taylan May and they are seemingly a package deal.

We would be in a better position if Sam signed , Kade7 seems to think it’s a done deal but where is the hold up , sign if you want to stay on our offer , stop farting about , club should be saying we still need to buy other players , sign so we can take your money out of the bicky tin ,

Reports were Dogs were after Bula before he re-signed. Wonder if they take him now and let go of Preston early. Duno if they would be willing to pay what we paid though.

We are out of options at present to strengthen our backline, but it needs to be a priority for 28'.

I got a bad feeling we sign Sam then the rest are all going to be other club rejects .
We send our rejects out
Outgoing - Luai , Toa ,- Hope , KitL , Luke L , Geyer , T Sukkar , Mason
Incoming - Alverillo , Brailey - ? ? ? ,? , ? , ?
We get rid of a million plus player and sign 2 average nrl players , seems right for us

Tyrell Sloan at the right price on the wing would be a very good signing; the team is lacking speed, the bloke has heaps of speed , St George don’t have room in their salary cap to keep him. I know he’s signed for Super League , but he now wants to stay in NRL.
As I’ve said before, you can’t coach speed!!! Forum’s opinion !?

I always thought he could be the next Addo-Carr.... a winger.

But dragons persisted with him at fullback and now he's at the end of his NRL run, playing wing and looking good.

He'd be a good signing for any club wanted a fast winger.

💯 Demps, good points here!
Andrew John’s was quoted as saying “ Tyrell Sloan has found his best position on the wing now”. I agree.
We need to make Moneyball style signings right now, Sloan needs to be in the conversation for sure at the right money.

I don’t think our club has got it in them to make any hard, brutal decisions to try and improve our playing roster, but we have a choice, continue on our our current path and hope for a miracle that we hardly get any injuries to our top 17 in 207, or take a serious look at all the dominoes that are starting fall and have serious crack at re-shaping our playing roster for the better.
I can’t help but think the classy ball playing from Javon Andrews would brilliant in combination with a genuine quality line breaking back rower such as Jacob Preston or Tallis Duncan.
If there was any chance of finding a way to get Preston and fit him in our Salary Cap for 2027, you would have to seriously consider it.
Every recruitment and retention decision is a gamble, but we can only deal with facts and the fact is quite a few of our current players have performed well below standard since round 9 or 10.
