Martin's been a great player but I believe his career has taken a physical toll on him. He plays the game very hard and he is not the largest forward.

Regardless of age for me a good big forward is better than a good small forward, maybe an old idiom but logical.

Trouble is not much big and good on offer at the moment, unless you're prepared to dent the cap if one becomes available.

Reports were Dogs were after Bula before he re-signed. Wonder if they take him now and let go of Preston early. Duno if they would be willing to pay what we paid though.

We are out of options at present to strengthen our backline, but it needs to be a priority for 28'.

Averillo lost the fullback spot in QLD cup. This reminds me of when Turuva was coming and people thought he’d be a better fullback than Bula.

People can have their frustrations around Bula but there aren’t any better options at the club or on the way here.

People can have their frustrations around Bula but there aren’t any better options at the club or on the way here.

Bula needs to improve next year to keep his spot. On current for he’d struggle to make the top 12 fullbacks list. I’m not even sure he’d make the top 15.

Id leave Sam and Martin in 2nd row. KPP in at 13. Twal in at prop and backrow rotation. KPP has a pass on him a big body and silky hands. No idea why but i reckon he could be a gun lock.

He'd be my last option for lock. His key ability is his offload, but not an offload in traffic where the receiver has to then create something but offload to someone on the run in the space that the edge provides. I think he does have skills to be a handy lock but it would be reducing his best asset, an asset that almost no-one else in the competition possesses.

It’s a bit of an irrelevant conversation as I think it’s pretty clear Averillo has been recruited by Wests Tigers to fill the void at right centre.
But have you seen Averillo play fullback?
I vividly remember Bula playing the first half and part of the 2nd half for the PM’s X111 v PNG a few years back and the game was dull and boring with the PM’s X111 not leading by many. They then replaced Bula with Averillo at fullback and his extra energy and speed off the mark made an instant impact resulting in a much more fluent style of play from the PM’s X111 once Averillo was on the field and playing fullback.

The idea isn’t that Averillo is a better FB than Bula, reality is they are probably on par on current form.

It’s more to save the 1m and re-invest it elsewhere until someone of better quality becomes available, i.e Brimson now
