I don't want to sound critical but I'd say Andrews defence is probably two seasons away from being acceptable at NRL level
That's about how long it took Brooks ....and I'd say Javons defensive level base is currently way worse than Brooks was

If my memory serves me correctly, brookys 1:1 defence was pretty good when he started. I had such high hopes for him after his debut vs the dragons. That try he scored was brilliant.
He is 6”3 and close to 100kgs and will be turning 21y.o in 2027.
If he cannot defend well in 2027, there would be no guarantee he will be defending any better in 2029 when 23y.o and I very much doubt he will be hanging around as a Wests Tigers player if we expect him to wait until 2029 before getting regular NRL game time.
Our team next year looks solid but we need a few more players. We need a prop, lock and a backrower of some quality to add to the squad.

Bring him through the grades early and risk wrecking his confidence and risk losing him anyway ie Galvin
Or bring him through at the right time and risk him going back to Brisbane as a fully developed footballer
So he has dominated NSW Cup as a 19 year old and you expect him to repeat it for another 2-3 years before you are satisfied he is ready to be a regular NRL player?
That is an unrealistic expectation and it would not matter what club he is playing for.
Yes he needs to improve his defence, what 19 year old doesn’t need to improve their defence?
Casey Maclean has had defensive issues ever since the Panthers put him in their NRL team as an 18 year old based on his attacking brilliance.
They were prepared to let him improve his defence while playing NRL.
Your theory that you need experienced NRL players alongside emerging young players.
We have plenty of experienced NRL players to help and guide our younger players, so that argument does not stack up.
