If my memory serves me correctly, brookys 1:1 defence was pretty good when he started. I had such high hopes for him after his debut vs the dragons. That try he scored was brilliant.

He is 6”3 and close to 100kgs and will be turning 21y.o in 2027.
If he cannot defend well in 2027, there would be no guarantee he will be defending any better in 2029 when 23y.o and I very much doubt he will be hanging around as a Wests Tigers player if we expect him to wait until 2029 before getting regular NRL game time.
 
Our team next year looks solid but we need a few more players. We need a prop, lock and a backrower of some quality to add to the squad.

Most of our squad is locked in I don’t see much movement. It’s not good enough as it stands to challenge for finals.

And thus shows the issues at the Tigers

Bring him through the grades early and risk wrecking his confidence and risk losing him anyway ie Galvin

Or bring him through at the right time and risk him going back to Brisbane as a fully developed footballer

So he has dominated NSW Cup as a 19 year old and you expect him to repeat it for another 2-3 years before you are satisfied he is ready to be a regular NRL player?
That is an unrealistic expectation and it would not matter what club he is playing for.
Yes he needs to improve his defence, what 19 year old doesn’t need to improve their defence?
Casey Maclean has had defensive issues ever since the Panthers put him in their NRL team as an 18 year old based on his attacking brilliance.
They were prepared to let him improve his defence while playing NRL.
Your theory that you need experienced NRL players alongside emerging young players.
We have plenty of experienced NRL players to help and guide our younger players, so that argument does not stack up.

The one standout in that backup crew [1-5] is NO SPEED.
All catchable in a 20m chase assuming they did get into the clear.
The backup forwards [10, 11, 12] -----mostly babes. Not quite there yet.

Brooks could put a hit on. He cut George Burgess in half one on one.

Where do I start
Firstly I said 2 years , secondly his defence is way worse than McLean defence and McLean defends in the centres a far harder position to defend than the halved
Thirdly , you continually put attack before defence .....exactly the same argument in almost every post you make as far as my posts are concerned
Fourth if we have such good experienced leaders at our club why weren't they protecting Makasini when he was getting battered from pillar to post
Fifth if we have such good experienced leaders why is Benji trying to bring in more experienced leaders

So what are you wanting, young a 5/8 who is a very good defender, but very limited on attack, or a young 5/8 who is a very good attacking player, but has a bit to learn in defence?
Very rare to find a 20y.o 5/8 tgat can do both.
Jack Cole is a very strong defender, based on your theory we should have bought him and hoped for a 12-10 win every week.
Api is turning 35y.o in 2027, very experienced.
Alex Twal is very experienced as is KPP, Jayden Brailey, Alex Seyfarth, Royce Hunt, Adam Doueihi and Jake Averillo.
Surely we will not be lacking experience in 2027?
If we want and expect more aggression in our players, that’s another story.
Playing a highly aggressive Taylan May inside of Makasini on the wing seems to be common sense and will surely happen in 2027 providing Taylan can stay injury free.
I do agree it’s becoming more apparent that an aggressive forward leader would be ideal. The problem being there are not many of these types of players around and obviously the reason why we are supposedly targeting Tyson Frizell despite his age.
With the emergence of some very good young middle forwards at the Knights and the obvious salary cap squeeze they will face tj keel the core of their players off the back of a successful season, I would say it’s highly likely the Knights would prefer to keep Frizell for another season on a low value contract and likely look to offload JacobbSaifiti who is supposedly on a 700k contract for 2027.
A fit and firing Jacob Saifiti is still a genuine enforcer and could be just the type of player we need.
In addition to this the Knights will no doubt be desperate to retain Bradman Best and will need to upgrade other emerging stars such as Fletcher Sharpe. Fletcher Hunt should be a prime target for us in 2028 and I think it would be a fair chance that let him go for 2027 if that happened.

You were talking about our experience in 2026 , then you change it 2027

Secondly Andrews needs a lot or work on his defence ....not a bit
Thirdly and yet again you place attack above defence.....even though the Top 3 coaches in the NRL ( Bellamy , Cleary and Robinson ) think defence is more important
Benji has Recruited Brailey and Averillo and is rumoured to be targeting Frizzell all experienced players and not one junior has been signed . So obviously he thought we needed experience
Your putting a lot of trust in injury prone players like Taylan May , Douehi , Latu
My biggest issue with your posts is you put so little emphasis into defence .....you simply don't get it
The fewer points the opposition scores the fewer points you need to chase and the higher percentage football you can play thus meaning fewer chances you turn the ball over
But you don't get it .....you hope we can win 48 to 46 and if we don't you blame our attack for not scoring enough points
Who cares if players miss double digit tackles or don't even bother to try and put themselves in the position to make tackles
2005 is dead ....get over it and move on
