Newcastle's rise from the cellar I don't think is entirely unexpected. The competition this year was maybe not as strong overall as in past years and I think this continues next year.
Penrith is not quite the dominant force they once were and, unfortunately, are likely not to have Cleary available at the start of the season. Although given they won both lower grades they must have some good players coming through.
Roosters and Dolphins should be strong again but do lose a few players. Warriors overall are a good side but do have some issues with their halves.
Newcastle seems ascendant but eventually the Dylan Brown contract becomes a bit of an albatross around their necks.
Most of the rest of the sides that finished above the Tigers have issues either in key positions and/or with squad depth. Canberra and Melbourne are likely to have better seasons.
The opportunity does exist for the Tigers to rise up the ladder if (and I realise these are significant ifs) we have a better run with injuries and keep our best side mostly on the field; we can quickly sort out our best halves combination; one or two players can really surprise on the upside - Schuster?

Yeah but the NRL haven't. Like usual they change their implementation of the rules along the way. I'm sure there have been injuries earlier this year that only resulted in a binning.
The inconsistency is bullshit.

Undoubtedly that would be because they have far more experience of "winning" a wooden spoon than anyone else,17 times will do that.
Very interesting how he did not even face the Judiciary when he put a player out for 14 matches,i love the usual lack of consistency from everything.

It IS a good achievement but ignoring the reality of why it was possible is not.Let's hope that we never have to worry about coming last again.Onwards and always upwards should be what we are aiming for as a club.
And then I got through on the internet and got another set of tix, which we sold to Tiger Shaz on the day!
My brother lived on the Gold Coast at the time. Strolled in to Ticketek at 9am and nobody in line. 4 tickets purchased!!
