Someone said Andrews and Black was the origin half's combo the other year

I was thinking Andrews played 7 but Black did and Andrews 6

No way Ricky would let Black go Madge made a very big mistake letting him go and will return to the Broncos like Walsh did before coming to the Tigers
Coby Black is currently off contract for 2028 and beyond, so is free to negotiate with other clubs as of November 1 this year.
So it doesn’t really matter what Ricky Stuart wants and I assume it’s very likely Coby Black now considers himself as a regular NRL number 7 and I don’t think he will accept playing 2nd fiddle at any club.
Based on the above reasoning I think he is very gettable as of November 1, but as I previously stated, if Wests Tigers are interested a decision would need to be made on who we see as our long term halves pairing.
I think all 3 of Latu Fainu, Javon Andrews and Coby Black are highly talented and look like becoming elite NRL players over the next few years.
We have to quickly work out if we think a halves combination of Latu and Javon will work, or are they both better suited to playing 5/8 which would mean a highly talented halfback would be required.
Sandon Smith will highly likely be available also for those who ideally want a slightly older and more experienced halfback, but as good as what Sandon is, I think Coby Black has more upside.

November 1 next year not this year

I think Teddy will return and play fullback for the Tiger's and win another Clive Churchill medal before Black comes to the Tiger's to play 7

Ethan Sanders has agreed to one more year extension at canberra end of 2028

Coby Black is signed until end of 2028

they will have a stockpile of halves in canberra.

Hudson Young looks like he is on the move though.

we simply must get rid of Douhie he is not a 6 or a 7

We need him to be in the mix as our 6 or 7 until we find a better replacement.
You need more than 2 or 3 halves, particularly when we have a couple of halves that are not yet proven at NRL level.

A bit different on a football field, fast players are through a hole before they have the ball.
Steve Renouf
Steve Rogers
Russell Gardiner
Come to mind

Where some have to have the ball in their hands before taking off.
I hope you are right about his speed I just haven’t seen it in the games I have watched.
Ponga is an excellent example of effective speed..lightening quick over 10/20 metres..
as fast as Ive ever seen off the mark tbh
But he cldnt catch Bradman best in SOO,and nearly got run down himself by Dce in GF(altho a little weary covering up others)
Bula has a high top speed...but slow to get going..so it is rarely seen.Same with Douhi

I rate Javon. But he's also a 6. We don't have anyone other than Jock and Douehi who are out and out 7s. Coby Black alongside either Latu or Javon would be fantastic long term
We wont get Black after his last game with Raiders..he was outstanding, and under Rickys tutelege will be potentially a SOO player
Douhi isnt a 7
So we seem to have a truckload of 6s...but no 7s as I see it.Tough position for a smaller player to develop

I dont think thats a great idea...yes,hes not a 6 or a 7,but hes the sole penetration we had this year
Be throwing away the baby with the bathwater(literally after his dummy spit!!)

Meh it’s not as if we made finals with him. His attitude stinks.
Well.his attitude indeed does stink..and if it permeates the squad he is immediately released
But he seems remorseful about his behaviour..
.weve got a coach who is incapable of developing our young players to realise their potential, which is killing us..our juniors never develop. Its the key issue
and seems we cant attract anyone decent under 40 to fill the gap!!
Its a conundrum aka a mess
Not confident about 2027
