Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

2x ambushes on a trial-season Penrith. Good luck to St Helens and Wigan for playing huge games and getting up for the challenge, but both clubs would be destroyed attempting to play NRL week in and out.

Even 2023 season Penrith opened with 4 wins 4 losses, including the loss to us, but got it together end of season to only lose 2 of the last 19 matches including the GF. In other words - Penrith only lost 2 more matches after losing to us in Rd 9 in rainy Bathurst.
Have to agree completely with the points that you have made and then add to that some dubious on field decisions.

Not in the habit of going in to bat for the 'Riff because I don't mind them losing especially with the gutsy display Wigan put on but I think Brian To'o got it right with respect to that Wigan try that was awarded.

Now you are fishing for a blue...
It's a sheethole!!

That's why it's a ghost town every Christmas holidays,
and the 100 odd Km Trip down the coast takes 4hrs on the Weekends...
Mate I work in a few places, Canberra included.
They aren’t doing it nearly as tough there as the rest of the country are.
Whilst the rest of the country receives natural disasters every other year, Canberra doesn’t. They had a firestorm years ago that affected one small section of it and as I understand it, human incompetence caused that more so than nature. As a result, you don’t pay through the nose there for building and contents insurances. In fact it’s the cheapest of all cities.
Property values are going off their heads there. Canberran house price medians are the second highest in the country.
Crime rates are low. Like really low.
Salaries and wages are high. Per capita, the best outside of WA and it’s mining.
It’s full of culture. National Museum, National Library, National Gallery, National Zoo and Aquarium, Australian War Memorial, Australian Defence Force Academy, Australian National University, Royal Australian Mint, High Court of Australia, Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House, Old Parliament House, National Carillion…
It is well set out and easy to navigate. You can pretty much get anywhere from anywhere in less than 40 minutes.
Access to the South Coast is 2 hrs
Access to the Ski Fields is 2 hrs
Access to National Parks is less than an hour
Access to Lakes and Rivers is an easy day trip.
They have an NRL team, a Super Rugby team, an NBL team, an ABL team, an AIHL team, an A-League Women’s Soccer team, AFL is played there live quite regularly, Big Bash Cricket and International ODIs are played there regularly.
There are lots of festivals - food, culture, music
The weather isn’t great in Winter and Summer can be very hot but Spring and Autumn are great.
It’s no shithole.

Signing him could be a big mistake, he might mistake some of our first graders for mushrooms and eat them. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Now your thinking... Give our players magic mushrooms and have them run out...

Wait, that explains too much about our current performance. Slow to move, not sure who is in charge... we might need to swap the J for M's.

Bloke at work reckons Tigers are keen on Bevan French as a possible Tupou replacement. The belief is they also see him as a backup FB and better option than Staines as Bula's 2IC.
Wouldn't be many smaller wingers in the comp if that's the case. Maybe Benji sees Daniel Fitzhenry in him lol

Is that his opinion or does he has connections to the WT inner sanctum?

Works in Sports Media Sales and has various connections within the industry. He's been a Tigers member for over 20yrs and has reasonably close connections within the club. Stopped short of naming a specific source due to not wanting to potentially get that person in troubs. He's also not the sort of bloke to mention anything he didn't believe carried some weight.

It is highly unlikely Bevan French will come back to the NRL ti play anywhere other than 5/8 or fullback.
If he wants to get back into the NRL it's unlikely he'll do so in either position unless a club is pretty desperate. Handy winger, doesn't offer much elsewhere.

Could he become the modern-day Craig Wing off the bench for a club?

Doubt he has ever played dummy half but before last season I don't think he had played in the halves. Would be a great impact player if his defence in a middle position is reasonable.
