Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

I probably should also point out that I live in the South West and that Campelltown Sports Stadium gets a fair bit of use, certainly way beyond the small number of home games that Wests Tigers play at the venue.

I have heard the quote before about Penrith Park/BlueBet only being used 12 times a year and thought that cannot be right.

Tried to do a bit of research on it and at appears that it is used for very little more than Panthers home games, quite happy to be proved wrong, but in any case I don't think the Penrith community currently gets anywhere near the use out of it that Leichhardt oval gets.

Maybe after the knockdown rebuild it may get more use and so it should with that sort of money being spent on it, and of course you can bet with budget blow outs it will be well in excess of the currently quoted 300 million.
Currently any concerts aren’t being hosted that far West I’m pretty sure that’s part of the plan to make it a multifunctional entertainment ground for the western region.

It pretty much is right mate though the plan post rebuild is certainly to use it for a lot more including for concerts.

No one uses the toilets? wow!!!
And neutral venues would be great with no one getting the advantage or dis-advantage.
Save neutral venues for finals. Suburban home grounds are the best. I know the AFL went with the MCG for most of the Melbourne based clubs, but let’s face it, Aussie rules is a punish to watch regardless of where you view it from. That’s why corporates are so important for the AFL. The punters can sit in a temperature controlled glass box, eating pita chips and smoked salmon dip, sipping fine wines and faux craft beers. It’s the only thing that makes the game remotely bearable. Then walk home en masse from the MCG and talk about how many disposals or touches some nufty chalked up. Bludger of a game.
Rugby League is better. Suburban grounds are better. Stands to reason then that Rugby League at a suburban ground is the bestest.

I think they use it for burnouts during the off season?

Origins, finals and even Easter games are okay, anything else and it’s boring as bat shit. Whole empty bays don’t create atmosphere. Which is why you go to a live game. IMO.
Agreed. Origins are a great atmosphere but club games are meh. That said if the choice is between Accor or CommBank, I'd choose Accor every day of the week.

I was there at LO the day the record was set memory a bit dim think it was vs Souths and crowd about 23000 or almost .I should check Wikipedia but someone must know

It’s pretty much what happened in Melbourne.
All Melbourne games played at MCG or Marvel, except Geelong ( which could be equated to Penrith).
We would have 3, Accor, Allianz and Commbank, all owned by Venues NSW. They could be utilised according to the draw.
Seems to work ok, at least down here. All clubs have just moved on from the old grounds.
But Aussie Rules is a bit shite

Let me get this straight, Leichhardt Oval in it's current decrepit state is used 83 times a year and no one can spend any money on it.

Penrith Park/BlueBet Stadium currently is used 12 times a year and they want to spend 300 million plus on it, makes sense.
no votes in leichardt I guess

This question about where the Wests Tigers should have their "home ground" has been the elephant in the room since the joint venture was formed.

No one has ever had the vision (or the balls) to do something, once and for all.

I, like all fans, have my own thoughts as to what might suit me best.

But at the end of the day, the club just has to have its own ground.

And now, among all the consequences of the "review" - in steps interim CEO Richardson: he sees the problem for what it is and is determined to bring action to the table.

I don't really know where this will end, but it will all come to a head, and as a fan, I know that if I want to follow this team - the ground of choice will become my "home ground" too.

For Wests Tigers yes.
