Liked him when he played for us - a no nonsense type of player. Wouldn't win a game for you but wouldn't lose it either, BUT he is our defense coach. How much work he has put in is evident judging by the last couple of games. Hopefully still a work in progress, so better things to come. But I must admit, watching Benji, Robbie and him, I get the sense that their heart is in the right place. They looked happy ( a win helps!) and we may have struck that balance in the coaching staff (defense and attacking skills) that has been plaguing us for a while. I say "may" from a glass half full POV.
Shout out to JM, though.

Got treated unfairly while he was here. It wasn’t his fault that Sheens earmarked him as Prince’s replacement. He was never a halfback. He was a hooker/running 5/8. But like you said, he always put in. Was a total goer who didn’t miss one game in the three seasons he spent here.

John Morris he has done a few things that has seen us improve. The first is line speed in defence. We are meeting the opposition not waiting for them to steamroll us. That is a massive improvement from last year and even our round 2 against the Raiders.

The second is the centre and wingers are marking up on their opponents not rushing in like Noffa did opening up the edges. Maybe Olam and Solo are making this difference also.

I hope they continue to improve as it becomes addictive and sides have to plan on beating our defence and we can create more opportunities to attack.

I know it is only round 5 but they look happy and united to change our fortunes on the field

I hope we can win three in a row as I don’t remember when we last did it.

I was curious about that, so I just had a look and the last time we won 3 in a row was 2018 during rounds 4-6. Quite a long time!

Was always annoyed Sheenius titled him Jonny Cronk Morris. Dude was never a 7. Best position was hooker but we had Robbie. Second best position was 6 but we had Benji. Dude was on a hiding to nothing, brought in to be a like for like replacement of a genuine half in Prince. Sheens shifted him from hooker to half to 6 to bench. Never settled in any postion. I wish the club went for a genuine halfback and used Morris as a perfect 14 and used as a fill in 6 or 9 when Benji or Robbie was injured for his entire time here. Instead we got more Sheenius selections like Rowdy and Fulton playing at 6 when Benji was out. Sheenius.

Hasn’t the world changed since then

Pandemic, Wars , Etc

Would anyone bar Benji, Robbie, Skando, Richards and Dwyer still be there from then?

Dinnit John Morris end up playing Center at Cronulla later on?

Benji was always trying to move into the halves, and that never worked.
Scott Prince + Benji was the ideal combo. We never really replaced the halfback spot here.

Robert Lui maybe... No one else really claimed 7.

Wait, you criticise Rowdy at Center? Or do you mean making him 5/8 (agreed he wasn't suited to that at all.)

Ultimately, yes we should have brought a proper halfback. Instead we spend nearly the last 2 decades shoe-horning various 5/8's into the role.
