LIVE GAME Round 14 v Panthers

Live Game Discussion
But not mentioned by Benji/Romey during their presser rant, nor via the video ref, nor in the judiciary report ( so far). I really wanted a try as well but just think that it wasn’t quite as obvious as everyone saying. I thought Sorensons legs were to the side of Bula ?
I’d have to have another look.

But I will say this, we need to be better so the refs dud calls don’t affect us as much.

I love Doueihi Great clubman. I think if not for all of his injuries, would have captained the club, but I can’t see a place for him moving forward. He has the speed of a turning ship. It was evident when he played in the halves. He’d see a gap, but needed five minutes to go through it, and then last night, we shifted the ball wide, and he found himself on the wing. He didn’t have a chance in hell. If we don’t buy an established centre, I really hope there is a chance Mason can be given a shot over the summer. He has to be there somewhere. This shouldn’t be a Galvin/Fainu situation where we can only keep one or the other. There should be a place for both these guys. If Fainu is going to go into the halves, that’s fine. But Mason has to be there somewhere too.
Only a ball playing lock for Doueihi. Bulk up and we still have a goal kicker. Could have done with Taylor May yesterday. We would have won.

You miss my point, of course we slowed the ruck both teams did, could we have been penalised for it more probarbly. But don't give me this rubbish that we got a fair shake when the ref can give a penalty for a slow play the ball, yet both he and the bunker miss an obvious hip drop at the line that stopped a try that was a definite send off and penalty try. Any other tem the bunker would have looked at it 3 - 4 times.
I’m not sure it was a hip drop tackle.
Just watched it again and Sorensen grabs Bula around the waist and the Panthers knees hit the turf BEFORE he actually swings around in an attempt to stop him getting to the line. It’s play on for mine - ref was correct, bunker was correct 👍

Hip drops weren't illegal when Matt Cooper played football.

The NRL have done such a bad job with this hip drop interpretation. The point of it is to stop defenders doing exactly what Sorenson did. His tackle is exactly the sort of tackle that causes knee injuries. It is the definition of a hip drop in the true sense of the word. You don't need to make contact with the legs to perform a hip drop. Grabbing the player from behind and dropping your weight to the ground in a way that twists and torques the defenders knees is the action that causes injury.

The NRL have gone ahead and made some additional definitions with added KPIs because their refs are too dumb to be able to tell on sight the difference between a reckless tackle that can explode knees and ones where they are careful not to place pressure on the attackers knees. In doing so they've essentially legalised a dangerous tackle again.
Well i dunno where we are they keep changing things rules interpretations

I was at the game and a few take aways from me
- best we’ve looked in terms of structure all year
- even defence line speed was good pretty much all game. They didn’t look like scoring until they got it to the wings (turuva needed to do better on 2 occasions )
- Latu was amazing but a few times ran instead of passing when we had overlaps
- We have the form centre in the comp and we keep going to douehii (he’s not up to 1st grade unfortunately)
- ref killed us with calls

First time after a loss I actually felt that we are building something special here.

How do we overcome this because it happens every week? It’s not just us one eyed Tiger supporters saying it either, heaps of other teams’ fans pick up on it also.

I used to think it was just a bit of a conspiracy theory when people said the officials and the NRL are against us and I hated blaming the refs for our losses, as we can easily lose games on our own. However, the bad calls against us in every match are now guaranteed and, along with the NRL’s silence when player managers are unscrupulously raping our club, it’s hard not to think that there is some sort of anti-WT sentiment going on in the higher echelons of the game.

Luais tackle on Talangi as he kicked was costly...and wrong...it was a turning point and saw us concede 8 points when the game ahouldve taken a totally different direction starting with us in possesion in our own 20 (actually csnt recall how the kick eventuated)

They were.
It wasn’t a hip drop tackle and only Tigers fans are saying it was.
Unfortunately it was an excellent, desperate and effective tackle that won them the game.

Bula should have laid down rolling around in pain like all the others do, might have been looked at.
But then again its us so prob not.
Exactly! This is what I’m talking about. Why are our players allowed to constantly be the recipients of dangerous tackles without penalty when one of our players would be immediately penalised or even binned for doing the exact same thing, sometimes within the same game?

Why do our fans always have to blame others for a loss?
We had plenty of opportunities to win that game and just fell short.
Be happy you have a team who fight for 80 minutes.
