OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Come on bro ……. Wests juniors whilst separate from wests Ashfield has the same issue HBG has re. Bad people in charge who don’t know what they don’t know ,but think they know everything because they know a little bit .
So because of this reinforcement of low standards , the issue still exists . We should be at the top of the table in Matt’s and ball every year , and when we aren’t , questions and heads should roll . Balmain is going to be susceptible to fluctuations due to the level of talent in that particular age group , combined with how much or how little they had to externally recruit .
Wests have no real excuse , as the vast majority of that team should be filled with kids who are playing Loz Daley , and if there is issues in that age group , then a new strategy around recruitment/ talent identification/ evaluation should be looked at .
With how many teams the tigers have from Mittagong really , up through to Liverpool and out to Cobbitty / oakdale and down to Cecil hills and green valley , that’s an absolutely huge amount of geographical footprint to produce 20 odd players per age group that are highly competitive . If the issue is nepotism , and recruiters with particular allegiances to certain clubs , then that should be raised and stamped out .
Theres no excuses IMO. The players are there we just aren’t picking them . Hopefully with how competitive the lox Daley and Andrew John’s teams have been , they can field the nucleus of those age groups moving forward , and we can further build on those pathways .
2 things should help us build toward this moving forward . Eagle Vale becoming a sports high is huge . If they become competitive in the next few years , wests juniors will now have an option between them and St Gregory’s , which should create a decent rivalry as they’re right near each other , and hopefully build and build moving forward as money is pumped into Eagle Vale .
The second is the junior COE underneath the north stand being built at C town . This should , if we are smart , lead to the regions kids spending a lot of time together , as well as the Balmain players after Matt’s and ball seasons are completed under the cubs program , and pushing into Flegg . With the amount of coaching and support staff that will be required to run that facility , that should also help push through a more consistently excellent football teams across all grades .
But it starts at the top , and wests is notorious for nepotism , ridiculous allegiances to junior clubs , politics around appointments and player choices . It was like that when I was a kid and I’m 40 .
The sooner wests tigers takes over the whole shebang , these decision makers clinging to a memory of a past that didn’t exist , are put out to pasture , then and only then can the whole club move forward as one .
This includes rebranding Balmain as Wests Tigers - Balmain
And wests being rebranded as Wests tigers - South West
Like it except don’t divisionalise the brand. Just one team featuring the best of the best. Concentrate the quality don’t dilute it.

I thought he played very well for his short stint.
Can already see him straightening the attack, passes were very good on either side of the ruck...kicks were ok
Burton dominated for an hour before LG got on and then let him do his thing.

I wonder if he and Tallyn spoke yesterdy
I’m agreeing with Ron . It’s not going to matter . His positives will be amplified and his negatives will be downplayed . This will continue until Gus eventually loses interest / finds a new shiny toy , then he will look to move him on , and there will endless articles about how over payed Galvin is. That won’t happen until Galvin is 25/26 .
It’s about as guaranteed as the sun coming up . Might not even be Gus . The media only build your up , so they can tear you down ….

Yea but you can’t dismiss the geopolitical diversity of the 2 areas , and like it or not especially at Cambo there’s a pride in that .
Like a “yea I’m from C-town , so what ! What’s your problem !” Which seems like I’m judging that .. I’m not ! I think it needs to harnessed and that’s where the delineation between the 2 areas at those age groups is important .
Because you’re representing your area against other areas . More so than you’re representing an nrl team .
But sub consciously , the ground work needs to be played , that you are in fact , still wearing the wests tigers jersey , despite those geopolitical differences .

But this isn’t a Roosters & Central Coast Roosters thing. This is junior representation of our two foundation clubs. If you’re going to shake the apple cart do it properly, there will be even more infighting if you keep Wests and Balmain separate and make them play under / against each other with the same brand.
I just don’t see that working.

100% mate.

The amount of wasted energy on this forum about things that can't be controlled is extraordinary.

I admire three things about Lachie:
- he's a competitor
- he wants to be a better player
- he thinks being out of his comfort zone (new environment with new players) is the best way to achieve this, and he's up for the challenge. He wanted out before he even became an NRL player.

95% of posters here go on about how the club is flawed in many ways downstream from the majority owner, yet players like Teddy, Moses, Stef, Galvin on the inside feel it, they're attacked if they want to leave. This is their career. They get a short-one and just one shot!

The club needs to get it's shit together from the very top in the boardroom, development resources, and build a long-term competitive organisation that players want to play for.
Plenty of players fit your admiration list.
I see little to admire him for

Theres a few here dont understand this....they see emotion.as a weakness
And or are not as emotionally invested as others. Not all fans follow a team with the same level of passion and so can disassociate more easily. I have an interest in the Premier League but the losses/ wins are not nearly as impactful as those I experience with Wests Tigers.

How can any sane person query why a Tiger's player hasn't been selected in Origin for donkey's years. We have been wooden spooners, don't know of many clubs who had the spoon who had origin quality players. Face the facts since Teddy we have had pretty much shit, journey men players hardly origin quality, Stef on form last year was never going to make it. This will change though when we start to get more wins and climb the ladder, look at the sides who make up the majority of the origin squads they tend to be quality teams.

Still exists, hence the 'was/is.'

Wests Magpies are the majority owner, so the ways of the past are still being thrust upon Wests Tigers now.
I think you’re overstating things by trying to blame all our ills on Burgess and Western Suburbs. I mean Dennis would appear to have become the new Pascoe/Hagipantelis when it comes to finding a back room fall guy.

The Board appointed Richardson, Marshall and co to run the footy team. The Magpie juniors have got their act together and are producing plenty of green shoots. The club appears to be financial and is on the rise (with regards decent recruits, on field performances etc). It’s hardly Burgess’ fault if Galvin decides to head elsewhere. If that’s on anyone (which I don’t think it is) it’s on Richo and Benji.

Re’ Western Suburbs in the 1970s & 1980s - Canterbury had a thriving Leagues Club back then and the Magpies didn’t There was also no salary cap. Even allowing for that - there’s no way Canterbury “took over the inner west” until Peter Moore and his mates Quayle & Arko forced Wests to fight for their survival in court. And a few years after that, the Magpies relocated to an area Canterbury had long considered their own.

As for players heading across George’s River Rd to win premierships - they’d need to time that dash just right. The Dogs last premiership was 21 years ago 🤔

Bit rich when you are trying to stop others from speaking by calling for the thread to be closed, when it’s very easy not to engage it.
Not rich at all - I simply expressed an opinion.

Massive stretch from you though, where did I stop people from from speaking or engaging ?

You seriously overestimate my pull around here, I'm just a nobody on the internet.

Just because I express an opinion about something it doesn't mean it will happen it's just an opinion. Just saying I ain't god or anything.

You want this thread closed all because you are sick of the topic. All you have to do is not click on it.

Sorry if its been mentioned, but Nof couldn't help himself. Doubt he knows Galvin all that well...
