Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Des Hasler’s on the brink of losing his job.

The Titans are one loss away from activating a clause to dismiss Hasler from his job as coach of the Titans.

The report also states a player revolt over matters such as team selection.

It would just our luck he gets sacked this weekend and they have a new coach they want to impress against their next opponents which is us at Leichhardt.

Keep Des for another week of upheaval and lets get the Warriors and Titans

Papali’i could effectively replace Royce Hunt if we could somehow get him off our books, but isn’t it rumoured that Papali’i is ideally looking to return to Brisbane ?
I’m assuming he might end up with the Dolphins.
This is it. We will be keeping $$$ up our sleeve for Taylan May if he shows what we believe he can. I'd imagine he will go on a $400-$450k contract for next season if that's the case.

So then with our remaining cap we won't be able to afford a Josh Papali'i or anyone else over $500k unless 1 of 3 things happen -

1 we get Royce off our cap somehow,
2 Souths agree to pay at least 50% of Bud's contract or,
3 we can frontload a few hundred K this season.

Realistically we be looking at a 2 x $400-$500k players (1 being Taylan) and then a host on close to minimum deals.

My reasoning is in the Salary Cap thread.

If he is considering a move to Sydney, it will involve considerable disruption in his life especially if he has a partner/family. For this reason, I think if he would have already made the decision either way. I think it is a very long shot he would come to WTs.

Why would you want him? Every contract exit ends up in court.

That’s quite similar to my calculations.
Also keeping an eye on how well players such as Latu and Terrell amongst others finish the season as we could possibly need to upgrade and extend them early before it becomes an issue down the track,

But but but - "we can't just pay ever player whatever they ask for..."

Are you "expecting" upgrades for Latu (who you took just one game to re-evaluate) and Terrell?

Highly likely if they continue their current trajectory and if we want to keep them long term.
As for Latu, the rest of this season will obviously make things a lot clearer on how high his ceiling may be, but his game last Sunday was the best individual performance by a Wests Tigers player so far in 2025, was it not ?
Api has probably produced a 9 or 10 out of 10 game once or twice this season also, but no better than what Latu produced against the Roosters.

I was talking about Des Hasler getting the punt not Tino or Fifita. Des needs to go to the hairdresser before he leaves the GC after that he can go and retire as it is past him.
