FWIW my name is that as that’s where I grew up. I’m 31 - I literally have zero memory of Balmain in the top flight. I love the Magpies, love Balmain but want Wests Tigers to succeed.

I think the NRL, NSW Cup, Jersey Flegg and women’s should all be Wests tigers. Juniors, Massey, Sheild should be Balmain and/or Wests.

Despite that wish, I still always cheer the Magpies at NSW cup. I keep up to date with all the matts and ball scores of our magpie teams and view them just as much as part of our club as the Balmain junior sides.

It just blows my mind that people 25 years on still want to have these fights. There is such an unbelievably easy way to move forward as one club but some dumb cranks can’t accept what happened back in the late 90s. Move on.

People are passionate about their club, when u merge it’s a hard transition. Let’s be real, everybody refers to us as the tigers, rarely has anyone called us wests, as a team. I’d feel a bit peeved at that. It’s a loss of identity imagine if it was reversed. Balmain Magpies and we changed the colours to black and white.
I know who got the better deal and they don’t pay any of the bills!
We are were we are and that’s not changing. But remember manly got norths kicked out because they didn’t pay their part of the bills.
If we have to give the dog a bone to remember the long history of both clubs, then so be it! Naming our state cup team the magpies I think is the least we can do.
Be proud we are from two 1908 strong loyal supported teams. If it was in reverse, I’d be happy for our state cup team to be called the tigers.
Remember our unique history. Not sweep it under the carpet…

Out of interest, does anyone know where I’d find a copy of the original joint venture agreement ? I’m guessing it stipulated that Western Suburbs & Balmain were to continue competing in all NSWRL run competitions.

Whether you agree with it or not that's what was signed off on. I don't like that the bank charged me interest when I had a mortgage, but I signed an agreement so I paid.

"To assist generally in the promotion conduct and propagation of Rugby League football in the Rugby League Football District of the Western Suburbs of Sydney or elsewhere and to provide or assist in the provision of training and conditioning and teaching facilities for football played in accordance with the rules of the New South Wales Rugby Football League."

I went back and checked; the same objective was outlined in the previous constitution signed off in 2022.

I can understand that Fallah is representing the views of WSDRLFC and their wish to have teams below NRL level known as Western Suburbs. I respect those views and he should present them and define how this is the best way to position Wests Tigers. I trust that the new governance structure means that the case will be presented to the Wests Tigers Board so that due consideration is given and Wests Tigers can provide a recommendation to HBG. This is why the independents are important; they can consider the pros and cons of the views put forward in an impartial manner.

Equally, Balmain could push the same agenda through their representative (not that there is any noise about it). If that was to occur, could it be an option ot have KOE as Wests Magpies and Flegg as Balmain Tigers to provide equal representation? I certainly trust this is not the case but it could be put forward as an equally valid argument.

The language alone in the post "... and the mighty Black & Whites also have designs on the women’s teams." shows clear agenda and division among the supporter base. It is division that is not required

I trust that the board will consider all arguments and put forward to HBG a postion that is in the best interests of Wests Tigers. The board alone will be privvy to all sides of the argument and whatever decison is made we should get behind.

My personal opinion is that all senior representative sides should be Wests Tigers branded and that the junior reps are aligned with the district that they are selected from. The idea of Wests Magpies or Balmain Tigers gloating over representation below NRL simply demonstrates prejudice.

The only reason they don't is that they fell over.
The Magpies still exist in the juniors and lower grades as they always have and supporters shouldn't be punished for the fact that Balmain don't.

The snippet you posted shows that their is division between what fans want and Fallah has every right to push that agenda on behalf of WSDRLFC. The decision that needs to be made is if that is in the best interests of Wests Tigers and the board is the right forum for that to happen.

I never said anything about not supporting the current setup - in fact I do.

What stands out in the way it is presented, by Fallah is that the fan base is not united. The statement that Wests Magpies have dsigns on the Womens teams as well support that.

The point I was trying to make is the right forum to make decisions on this is the Wests Tigers board - pushing barrows outside of that is not helpful.
