Adam Doueihi #227

Isn’t Cooper our next assistant coach ? I thought that’s why he’s flicked the Roosters. Or vice versa.
I thought his fingerprints were all over our changes on Sunday, especially Douehi to 7. And his commentary seemed fairly pro Tigers.
100000/1 - you choose which way

You know more than Cronk, maybe we can get you on our coaching staff ?
Doueihi‘s recent form has been a fluke, we don’t want halves who have a long kicking game, are a running threat, make line breaks, score tries, dig into the line to create opportunities and line breaks for others.
Why would we want all of that ?

With salary caps increasing and 2 additional teams to enter the comp in the not too distant future, I believe a proven NRL goal kicking utility will increase in value. If we can secure AD for the next couple of years on reasonable coin then to me it's a no brainer. I understand that other posters have decried the fact but he is a Wests Tigers junior. Sign him up Richo.

Sorry AD. Thanks but no thanks. Was happy to see you stay but once you signed with certain mananagement, that was a sign that you were chasing whatever you could get. Best of luck

Yes, but that was not the subject of the conversation. If the conversation had been about Luai's performances the issues would have been front and centre. It was not though - we are in the AD thread discussing the club's offer to him and why he would not be offered more. I don't believe the leaked $350K story - classic IM.

Benji has stated he wants him to stay, but with a contract that matches how he fits into the system. It has nothing do do with his nationality - it is about his flaws as a player. AD will have been told why he isn't being offered the $ he wants. If he wants to stay and be part of the build he can - if he was smart he would build in a couple of performance clauses to get a pay rise at the end of 26 if he meets certain KPIs.

You have been consistent in the narrative that we need better to be a top 4 team. Looking at ADs performances objectively; does his off the ball play make him a player any top 4 club will chase?

If we want to be a top 4 team he makes great depth.
He doesn’t even have a definite position. 350K is the max you pay a guy like him if you want to win.

I must admit that Adam Doueihi has me with egg on my face.

I wasn't exactly sold on keeping him going on some woeful defensive displays and what seemed at times a complete lack of urgency in both attack and defence earlier in the season with his kicking (general play and goal kicking) seemingly the only thing keeping him in the mix.

I'm so glad he has shown what he is capable of and has stepped up to the plate as a leader, leading by example,
Well done to Adam.

As for re signing him? I'd get him to bring in the Dragons best offer (in writing) and match it and he'll stay for sure.
There’s no need to match that offer. Does he really want to be paired with Kyle Flanno in the halves. #scapegoat central

Which other clubs are keen?!

Cooper Cronk who has recently been at our training sessions, stated last night in Fox that he believes Latu needs another 18 months of development before being ready to lead a team as their number 7 and says he believes Douehi is our best option playing 7 right now.
I’m not sure about everyone else, but I think Cooper Cronk would have a fair idea on this subject.
Has this been confirmed?

Very curious as to what capacity if true.

It’s not only about his contract value but it’s about available roster spots. We are getting very tight on available spots for 2026. We still have to lock May in for beyond this year so presumably another roster spot will be taken.

He's insanely overrated as a player, a commentator and a "personality" ... hard to call him that because he lacks any personality imo.

I agree.
But he’s still got a footy brain, something we are lacking, so on that score alone I’d be courting him as an advisor.
I’d love to know if he had any part in moving Douehi to half last Sunday. Will never know but interesting to speculate.
It was a bold move, whoever made it.

Bold, really?

I thought it was a pretty obvious move given the conditions. Neither JL or Latu have great long kicking games. In my book, nieither does AD but it is better than the other two. AD did all of the general play kicking unless we were down in the red zone so his strength in this are was a real focus.

He did an OK job of it, found the back three without moving them around too many times; however, given the slow pitch and a reasonable chase we were able to make the most of it.

What Benji did was show faith in the playing group and demonstrated that he has the ability to tailor his game plan for what and who we are facing. For those that have been stating we have no game plan - he has answered in spades. What we don't have is a complicated expansive game plan - but my gut feel is that this year is about building a foundation.

Ciraldo was completely out coached on Saturday, and the Dogs were completely out played. Benji and the team may have said in the lead up that Galvin had no bearing; but they were full of it. This one was personal for the playing group.

Yeah, I don’t get the hubub about his value. We are miles under the cap. Paying him 450-500 won’t break the bank. Plus it’s about right for him.

Given all the hoo ha about Latu, and whilst I get what you’re saying, imho it was still a bold move to play him at 7.
