Cricket Season Thread

Fair dink, Bazball is a complete myth made up by giant Pom mastheads to make the Pom fans feel better about loosing again. All Baz was trying to do was get them playing positive cricket instead of the dour lemon sucking moral winning cricket they have played for 100 years, and to really break the shackles he went all out attack for a while. Since then there is no doubt he has reined it in to “Mythball with brains”. But I was thinking on one of the many nights I had no cricket to watch due to them getting flogged in record time, that you can’t just go out and pummel the opposition like the Oz teams of the 90’s onwards. You can’t just walk down the pitch from ball one and smash the worlds best bowlers like Haydos unless you got Haydos, and last I seen he was at a fancy cowboy hat shop on Rodeo Dr.
Yep. They've been drinking their own bathwater (or however the saying goes). Frustrating thing (for the English) is they have actually built a good side capable of winning in Aus for the first time since 2010. The only thing getting in the way of them winning this series is their enormous ego and Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood...

Head has a fair record of forcing them to drink from the bath.

Ya right though there should be no reason why they shouldn’t go better this time with that squad.

Unchanged squad for 2nd test.

Weatherald
Khawaja
Head
Labuschagne
Smith
Webster
Green
Inglis
Carey
Neser
Starc
Doggett
Boland
Lyon

Will be interesting how the Khawaja situation turns out. Inglis could potentially slot in opening or at 5 (with Head opening) instead of him.
Highly doubt there will be another change other than that.

Obviously the selectors are happy.

No Patty.

No Patty.
I think it’s almost somewhat tactical.

Currently 1-0 in 5 match series. We put Patty in at 95% ready to go and there’s a chance he goes down and we lose him for the whole series or we wait until Game 3 and almost guarantee he’s there for the last 3.

So I guess even if we lose in Brisbane it’s only 1-1 and we have our best bowler ready to unleash for the rest of the series.

If we lost the first game though different story.

Took him 3 games before he was potent again last time.

Jeez I'd love to get in the Australian team. Hard to get out once your in. Dave Warner had a farewell tour for 1-2 years scoring little runs. Khawaja has done little in over a year but still gets to go out on bis terms. The selectors have no plans at all for the changing of the guard. The Sri Lankan series we should of sent our up and comers to get experience. Instead players that won't be here in a year or two given first crack.

What about 'Gary'? Can't remember the last time he's taken wickets when the team needs him to

Naming the same squad for the 2nd test ?
I have a few problems with this
- Kwajaja looked unfit physically and mentally. He just looked" not with it "
He even walked when he was actually not out as the ball hit his glove that was not gripping the bat . His awareness of rules re time off the ground also lacking
He is 38 and has been a great servant but just think his time is up and he played very little domestic cricket in last 2 months

- Doggett got 5 wickets but every one came from a bouncer ?
Doubt that will happen again at 130 kph .
I would roll the dice with Cummins

Lyon also very old but would pick if he's 100% fit .90 % is a no !
Weatherald ok but better perform with good options around
