    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yeah, a gun would be the only thing that makes sense. With Doueihi, Latu, Javon and Jock (and averilo), we have enough depth and potential. The only play that makes sense would be someone who shifts the dial, like Dearden. We need more quality depth at every other role.

Poor again. Same as the wall mistakes in the COE

    OFFICIAL Adam Doueihi #227

Given the way he's been moved around, I'd still pencil him in for the 6 next year and get him a dedicated halves coach over the offseason. He's got a lot of brilliant attributes. If he can bring out a bit more of a playmaker mentality, then he'll be a real asset for us. You could see him trying...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What do we realistically need to improve the squad? - A decent bench 2nd rower/Middle > Answer: Frizell. He's a senior leader too, which we really need. - A high-quality prop > Assuming May & Pole are there, we then really start stretching for quality with Seyfarth/Hunt/Fainu for the final 2...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You'd only need half. But there's no way that would be legal. Youre buying a members club, these guys are working on behalf of members (not that they do)

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

HBG shareholders are its members. Its a non profit. The debenture holders commitment is $100. Yes, I didnt miss any zeros. Its a messed up structure man. The money would just go into their assets to spend on new facilities for the members. But that does nothing for the debenture holders, they...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

If shaun is working on it, it won't be overnight. You forget the mental state of these guys. They kicked out one of the best administrators in the game, if not the best. Seemingly just for power. Not just that, but never even respected fans enough to give a reason. One that was truthful and...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No manager worth his salt will come out saying publicly that we have money to spend. Weakens your bargaining position.

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

I don't think HBG would have left clauses in to recoup that percentage. Or, at a minimum, they would have sunset it after a period of time. But a split board is even worse man. Lets not go back there.

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Not one of the debenture holders will sell mate. It's a dead end. The directors do not own the club and will not get any benefit. What incentive do they have? They won't even give up semi-control to an independent board, let alone sell the whole thing.

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

You're not wrong. Especially with pathways, as you don't really see the return on that. HBG as an ownership entity is fine. But having the WT board controlled and governed by 20 debenture holders, who are selected based on back-room relationships/nepotism, is just obviously such a bad...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Thanks @tig_prmz . I completely get why people do though. The debenture holders have shown nothing but contempt for the fans in the way they run this club and communicate. They've never felt the need to explain anything, or when they do, it's quickly retracted because of glaring gaps... or...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

All anyone wants is HBG to reimplement the report. In terms of their success, sure, they have had ok jobs. They have similar experience to mine, which is not on the same level as other boards. We're running out of flegg-level quality in comparison. Do we want to win? I do. I'm bloody sick of...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

I mean the people involved. The 20 debenture holders, for some reason, wrestled the club back from an optimal structure, and I don't know if you've managed to contact any of them and find out what story they are telling. Do we have any insight into their psyche or rationale there, and why they...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Hey Joel, Have you ever heard anything from the HBG debenture holders about why they keep inserting themselves? Like, I know it's purely ego and control, but have you ever heard a narrative from them? I'd love to really know what is going on in their heads. There are appropriate structures...

It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Why would we want the idiots who sent Balmain bankrupt in power again anyway? We need to focus all our energy on getting HBG to do the right thing. Some debenture holders agree, and we almost had change if that coup hadn't happened. We need to get L&G and/or NRL to apply pressure - it's the...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Madden will start to command decent money when he goes to market and Benji is trying to ensure we have depth, without paying the world for it. I'd prefer Madden far more than SOS. We all would. The question is what the respective price is for either.

You mean specifically the Pepsi thing? Im not sure. Its a very unique situation. You wouldn't know at any other club because its all australian based.

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Yep. Benji had no choice. As he said, he respects people who show respect. Benji is trying to set cultural standards and clear lines of what he accepts and what he doesn't. If Benji were to have dropped Luai, after he did everything right contractually and with respect to the club. What message...

OFFICIAL Q&A Club discussion with Shaun Mielekamp

Hi Shaun, Are there any moves by HBG to re-implement the report's findings and bring back some higher-level expertise and experience to the board? I don't think anyone wants to make them the enemy - we all want to be one team! But surely they recognise it would be in the club's best interest...
