11th spot this year - how very close

If the Wests Tigers had scored first in extra time last night they would have finished the season in 11th spot based on their superior for and against. Maybe defence did improve markedly this year and in hindsight 2015 could be seen as a team settling in year, one on which a much better 2016 season will be built on.

Agree. Also, there were several games where we were leading or within reach of a win but fell away at vital moments. If we had won those games, we may well have given the eight a nudge. Like to see us add a few guys like Idris, Grant and maybe McQueen if available-and affordable! Big Jamal and Simona in our centres with Nofo and Kevvie on the wings would be a real handful

If my aunty was my uncle…...

We finished 15th no matter which way we want to spin it. It was a poor year by all concerned even by our low standards.

And for mine, thats exactly where we deserved to finish (Although Newcsatle did beat us twice!)

Every team has had there 'if only' games - I bet Cronulla fans will be ruing today's game where they'd be sitting secure in 4th 'if only' they'd won, instead they will most likely end up being bundled out of the finals in the first week!

However, I get what you're saying Newtown. Very even comp this year with so many teams even vying for the spoon - 20 points is quite high for the wooden spooners and yes it was good to have the more superior points differential over the other teams around us, even if it all meant nothing in the end.

The team did not finish last or equal last (the wooden spoon went to Newcastle). So when you say the worst season ever I assume you are referring to the upheavals which occurred within the club, i.e. mid season resignation of our CEO, public exposure of our very serious CAP problems and the Farah issue among quite a few others others.

is this the equal lowest the WTs have ever been on the ladder?

2013 was the worst season on record, this however, is the second worst season.

From 2004-2012 we were a respectable football club given our lack of financial strength. Sheens did not get the credit he deserved for holding the club to some form of respectability over that period.

The biggest concern is this year we have the 3rd lowest crowds in the teams history along with Balmain in Administration.

No, this is the worst season in Wests Tigers history. Equal last position but avoided the spoon on points difference. The Cowboys game where we lost 8-0 at home was the worst performance by Wests Tigers ever. It was the lowest feeling I've ever had as a supporter.
The off field stuff also contributed .
The handling of this Farah saga has been ugly from all sides. WT, Taylor, Robbie and Ayoub.
Next year we are losing Galloway, Richards,Farah, maybe Halatau and maybe Ava. We've gained nobody of note, although I think Chee Kam will be ok. I fear a worse season than this year in 2016.

Just another thought…

No offence to the original poster at all, but that head line just about sums up our club.

Bugger, we NEARLY got 11th, what a great effort that would have been. Really ? Is that what we are? Maybe your right.

Thats Wests Tigers for you a history of mediocrity.

The unpalatable truth to many on the forum is that in today's NRL it's hard to be anything to be other than mediocre when you have a mediocre purse such as Wests Tigers currently has. We recklessly squandered our money a few years ago. What do you suggest the club does in its present situation?

Look I agree.

It is just depressing.

Your glass half full I am glass half empty.

25 years of supporting both clubs has done that too me.

Wow, can some of you not read - the OP said, and I am almost inclined to use capitals but will refrain "how very close". It is a statement of fact!! There is no "if only" about it.

Yep. The upheaval in the club and the way we were never really in a chance for anything but the spoon with so few injuries makes this our worst ever season.

I don't believe the first part of your comment. I think we definitely have the money to afford a good squad and to win the comp.

I think we have been paying overs to players and that has impacted us however at the same time I think our squad is pretty decent.

The squad is decent…it was the inexperienc, immaturity and lack of understanding fundamental defensive structures in a couple of games where we had leads and lost those games.having said that, this team will have learnt a lot out of this past season and will be better next year for it......

And Sheens was able to do this how? - By back ending contracts that has led to this financially crippling situation we are in now. Yeah, great job Sheensy!
