14. J.Miller

Who would like to see Jacob Miller handed the 14 jersey.
He could be used in that same impact position that barba played for the bulldogs which proved to be so successful, it also gave barba the opportunity to slowly be blooded into first grade which would be great for Miller as it seems he has the skills and probably needs to build the mentality of being a first grade player(especially in a position as stressful as a playmaker)

Not the worst idea Qld does something similiar with Cronk also

From what I have seen of him in the u20's and his few outings in 1st grade he looks the goods. I read on these boards somewhere last weeks that he was rated well below Lui by the man in charge if true I find that hard to believe. Also could be a smart move trying to play the kid down for his own good and of course trying to keep the vultures at bay.

As for a 14, not so sure, can cover halves and maybe no9 but would be limited in other positions, he is a creator rather than a game breaker

Your right there…and looks like coops is almost guarenteed that 7 spot for the maroons.
here are some other teams:

titans - presto - 1/6/7
Broncos - Ben Hunt - 7/9
Warriors - hohaia - 1/6
Bulldogs - B.roberts - 6
Newcastle - stig - 6/7 tyrone roberts 6/7

Miller isnt used as a cover, he would be used as an impact player and also to build his confidence.
Much better idea then sheensys of playing a winger off the bench who provides nothing other then cover for injuries

If moltz covers half then some one is needed to cover fullback…why weaken one position to strengthen another

I'd rather Nadira was handed the 14 to give Robbie a 15min rest… We have pretty good coverage in the current squad to cover injury, and I feel we have enough genuine attacking options to spark something with Moltzen; Lui; Marshall; Lawrence; Farah. Fulton is the most universal bloke on the bench?

Moltzen - 1;4;6;7
Lawrence - 1;2;4;6
Marshall - 6;1;7
Ayshford - 4;6;2;13
Fulton - 6;4;13;11;9
Farah - 9;7;6;13

He needs to learn his trade in the 20's and play consistent week to week footy against his peers. Our 20's side is building toward something this year and Miller needs to maintain the opportunity to control that and develop.

He has had some first grade experience this year and can obviously handle it. However I don't think that now is the time to play with his confidence levels. Let him do what he does best where he is most comfortable. Plenty of time for first grade down the track…

i like what we have done with miller, given him a good taste of NRL, but not ruined him, by getting him into the grind too early in his career.
Id like to see him get one or 2 more games this year, a full off season and next year get first crack at the 7 jersey

I like Miller his a great organising halfback he is the future but he was very disappointing last week against the cowboys in Under20's.
The big cowboys forwards just kept running over the top of him. Didn't get much help from Simona either.
Can't see either back in the top grade any time soon.

while i'm all for Miller having a spot on the bench (i'd rather Miller as opposed to a winger) his impact would be different to the impact Barber provides at the Bulldogs

just let him keep developing with full games at half.
last thing we need to be doing is turning him into a player that thinks he needs to come on and make an impact from 20mins of football.we have too much of that as it is.

would prefer he learns about patience and letting the game come to him and controlling the game.

Well put Bon. I agree with everything you've said here.

I also agree that the longer he can stay in NYC the better. But I hope he doesn't get impatient and leave the club to get an early start somewhere else. He has talent and knows it, and looks to be a confident person so hopefully the communications from the club to him are healthy and he is kept in the picture.

Otherwise if everyone keeps pumping his tyres and he gets restless…
