2012 Halfback Super-Thread

Thread similar to the Mortimer thread.
Mortimer sucks, so why not make a play at this guy?
He's not old and has some skills…
What do you think?

Would be earning a comfortable fortune in the ESL. Why come back to a harder competition for less money and less security?

I do understand what you're getting at though and he is a decent player. Would be a good buy. I'd even look at Michael Dobson, he's a fairly good organising half and his kicking game is OK as well.

Maybe one mega thread–who will play no7 in 2012, because Iam sure every no7 and a few others who have played league will be linked to Concord in 2012 or thrown up for discussion

What are your thoughts on a possible replacement for Lui (if the worst comes to the worst) in young Tom Humble

I don't think Humble has the kicking game yet to convert to a halfback, but should definitely come into consideration for the vacant full-back position next year. I know NSW cup is a whole different ball-game to NRL, but he has been outstanding for Wentworthville this year and if form was anything to go by, he probably deserved a promotion to FG somewhere along the way, especially the way Parramatta performed this year. It was only a few weeks ago he tore BRET apart.

I'm not sold on Lazarus Tigerz2012\. He looked lost when he came up to 1st grade against the Doggies last year. I know that was a while ago, and I have seen him play recently and quite well, but I'm still not convinced he's NRL standard.

I'ld opt for Miller over Lazarus.

Keep hearing Mortimers name linked with us & also heard Brown wants a release from the final year of his contract, so maybe we will be looking for a fullback as well.

What about Tim Smith? He's playing lower grades at the Sharkies we could pick him up for a cheap price. I always rated him when he played for the Eels. He's just lacking a lot of confidence at the moment but I think if we give him a chance he could turn things around. He certainly isn't the worst option out there either. We've always got Miller in the lower grades as well if it doesn't work out.

You read RLW tigerbenji?

Can't believe I'm the first to mention Isaac John. Surely he has to be looked at? Been playing in a dominant Auckland Vulcans team and is behind the insanely talented Shaun Johnson at NZ. He'd be better than any other option and won't get a start at the Warriors at this rate and is a perfectly capable halfback.

He does sound good from the reports i have heard
But does he look good because he is behind such a dominant forward pack
And that's something that needs to be taken into consideration
Even Johnny Cronk would of looked good behind the best forward pack (Well maybe that is drawing a long bow) But do you see what I mean

Wasnt Tim Smith a bit like Carney & liked a little drink as well.

He is no where as bad as Carney. He had one incident but it was mainly because he suffers from Bipolar. That's why he went to the UK at one stage to get away from the media and concentrate on his footy.

And that move to the UK did wonders for his football. He came back a shadow of the player he used to be.
