2012 Halfback Super-Thread

Lui has to go we can't have people who beat and abuse women in this fashion playing with us IMO he should be locked up . As for a fb for next year I think Tim smith would be the go cheap and can play when his confidence is up ..

I have a feeling we already have the 2012 half back, and this year he was wearing 9.

Just my feeling.

I don't like tim smith, but he does have a great kicking game.

Scott prince for a year would be great for miller. I don't see that happening though.

Waters didn't have this colt following when he got the call up from magpies..?

Fulton maybe to 9 farah to 7, anyone?

Tried it before. Didnt work them. Wont work now. Leave Farah at 9.

I think one thing that's clear is we cant get into this crazy mindset that a few others here have suggested that you can just put anyone in the Tigers seven jersey and all they need to do is pass the ball to Benji.

We pretty much tried this with Morris and it was a disaster, Farah and Marshall have always looked much, much better when paired with an attacking halfback - Prince and Lui (no coincidence that these are the only two halves that have steered us to finals football).

I think we have a great raw talent here in Miller, it is a waste of time talking about Carney - wont happen, Smith = no chance, the only recruitment option I can see is Mortimer for a year to give Miller more time to develop (not my idea just what I can see the club doing should we be without Lui in 2012).
 
If Lui goes i can see Mortimer getting the job @ half as Mortimer has already been shopped to the tigers & baby thats no lie.
 
MORTIMER TO THE TIGERS IT BETTER BE THE EELS PAYING HIS CONTRACT IF THIS HAPPENS!!!!!!!
he is on a ridiculously high $$$$$ contract with SPAZZAMATTA!!!!
 
Just a thought, presuming Miller gets the 7 next season who is the backup if injury occurs? Sironen? Or are we just going to reshuffle our pack again?

The sharks have massive depth in the halves next year I'm sure a cheap pickup would be available. I personally just hope Miller will be mentally ready for an entire season in top grade he'll only be 19.

Anyones thoughts on George Ndaira playing half back
I can remember him playing 7 at Souths from time to time Can't remember how successful it was though
 
I'd be ok with giving Tim Smith a run. You don't 'lose' ability. And if there is any coach I think could get a young player to tap his ability- it's Sheens.

Give Smith a run, if that doesn't work, insert Miller & take the good with the bad.
 
I hope we don't sign Johnny Cronk again. Sheens wouldn't be able to help himself putting him at half-back again. :angry:
 
Whatever happened to moving Lawrence to 6 and benji to 7 I know we tried that before surely we can give it another crack

I dont understand peoples persistence with moving Benji to 7 and Lawrence to 6\. They are a couple of the best players in the world at their current positions. Why would you want to mess that up? Benji needs space. Simple solution is to find a seasoned half should Lui be let go.
I for one am not that keen to watch the Tigers struggle through the first half of next season because we have tampered with a pretty good looking backline.
 
James Maloney would be brilliant, one year left on his contract and I know for a fact the warriors are bot paying him a sum he is stolked about!
If not, issac John another one to consider for sure

Tim Smith is going like a busted at the moment, barely keeping his spot in NSW cup, im not 100% sure but i have a feeling that at one point late in the year he was off the bench for the sharkies in NSW Cup.

There is a lot of players without contracts or others would be willing to release we could pick up that would do a better job than Tim Smith without the baggage.

I guy I know who works in recruitment reckons there is actually a heap of halves that are headed for NRL careers, best bunch in years, obviously a few are already established in first grade (DCE,Johnson, Williams, Townsend), but he is really keen on Gary RIccardi who is at Manly and our man Miller, of those who are yet to play much first grade.
