Geez that looks like a very accommodating draw for the Magpies. Balmain on the other hand have to deal with Penrith, Newcastle, Souths and Parra … Ouch !

Yeah Balmain had a pretty good draw last season. Hopefully that Central Coast v Wests Magpies game is at Woy Woy like the Balmain game was this year!!

Yeah, don't think the Centurians were too happy with the grandstand situation last year Yoss … Hope that doesn't drive them away up to Morrie Breen or EDSAC or somewhere.

So Melbourne have bitten the bullet and are having both Junior Rep sides but did I read somewhere where they expect the established clubs to assist with their travelling costs?.

I read that the request for funding to fix the grandstand at Woy Woy Oval got knocked back. As per usual the money is going to Gosford… It's a bit of a joke since after Blue Tongue it's probably the next highly ranked ground on the Coast - it was being used for the rugby semis as well.

Can they fence off EDSAC? I haven't been up there for some time. Morrie Breen could be busy if Wyong are entering an A Grade team in the Coast comp as well as their NSW Cup team.

Flash … Not sure that what happened last season counts for much in these competitions.
All you can rely on is that traditional Junior Powerhouses like Penrith, Parramatta, Newcastle, Souths, Bulldogs etc will be tough.
You point out that Wests were 14th last season ... However for the two seasons before that were minor premiers ... So who knows what the Magpies will throw up in 2013.
Balmain will of course come back to the field having lost Moses, Brooks, Cherrington etc

Whilst the Matthews Cup is even harder to gauge

Very tough draw for the Balmain boys, with perennial strong sides Penrith, Newcastle, Parra, Canberra and Souths, plus Saints and Wests which normally are pretty decent as well. Not sure if they have a good side this year, but they will have to be good to succeed.

Wests on the other hand have a favourable draw, playing a heap of sides that traditionally have weak sides, hope they have a good side and can take advantage of the draw.

The draw in the junior reps is so important, given you play so few sides and there is a big difference in the quality of the sides.

I know it is tough to tell, but does anyone know how each of the sides are looking for this year, in both Ball and HM

You can draw your own conclusions on Balmain on Saturday at TG Millner, HM and SG play trials v Parramatta Eels at 3 & 5pm respectively.

any players I should keep an eye on in either grade.

Pif Pifileti and angelo pananmbalama matts

Bayley Sirro will be in Ball no doubt…dylan siddle

Not sure of final squads

unfortunately my wife curtailed my trip to the footy, her exact words were do you really need to go to a kids trial game…. difficult to argue with when you say it like that
