couldnt leave out anasta koro and even thompson.
braiths a good leader with lots of experience
koro is an x factor and if he works on developing some more skill in the off season he definitely has to be there
and thompson has been playing pretty well for us and hasnt really let anyone down

and to me the backrow still looks small and unable to break the line , we really need two good backrowers.

Richards is a winger. He has filled in at fullback and played some centre when he went to the ESL but "it was agreed that he was not suited to centre" so shifted back to the wing. He is a winger.

definitely reckon there will be a lot of competition for spots esp in the backline

no one's been guaranteed a position which is good.

potter is looking at a team of 25 rather than 17- sheens would usually pick the top 17 and pick them week in week out in diff positions diff ways diff plans.

hope potter can bring out the best in our players coz i think we have the potential

Good Work… When you look at it like that, it really identifies we have no Halves or Second Rowers to make an impact in 2014!

Completely agree. Second row stands stands out as a real weakness. Halfback and five-eigth selections are unproven gambles. These are the position which Mayer has to strengthen in 2014 NOT 2015.

It's hard to believe that with the large amount of back rowers we have bought over the past 5 or so years it has now become a major problem position. Second rowers were practically all we bought at one stage lol. I find it amazing that they all turned out to be nuffies! Ellis and Dwyer have really been the only ones, since our 05 team, that have had any sort of impact and Dwyer's contribution, as we all know, was unfortunately cut too short.

We sure could use an SBW, Cordner, Watmough, Lewis, Thaiday, Papalii type player right now. Pity there's none available.

I agree with everyone's concern about our 2nd row. I'm really hoping that young Siro & Sue can bulk up a bit over the offseason & play this role for us. I think they have shown the skill, aggression & work ethic, but just need more size.

It's a scary thought to think Sirro is going to get bigger, the kid is huge. Someone on the forum said recently that he is already around the same size and height as SBW.

I think WT need to start next season with experience in the halves until they are certain that Brooks is ready. He hasn't even played an NRL game yet and he will need some time to settle into first grade, especially in such a vital position. If we are not going to buy a proper halfback for next year (e.g. Wallace or Hodkinson), I would put Anasta in there to start with. The team played well when he was at half for those few games, earlier in the year, and he lacks impact and is totally wasted in the back row, imo. Sirro has been playing ok in the halves for now and I think he would benefit even more playing alongside Anasta.

We have a lot of props for once, which is a good thing. A few of them are unknown quantities at this stage, but guys like Taupau and Gavet have come with big wraps on them. It was a real shame we didn't get to see Gavet perform from the start of this year and I hope he can get his confidence back quickly after sustaining a long term injury. I haven't seen him play yet, but by all accounts he is coming along nicely in the lower grades at present.

Since we lack impact in the back row, but have plenty of props for next season, I've taken a punt and put Gavet in the second row in my team because I reckon he could be just what we need there - a big 100+kg, mobile, hard running forward with good ball skills. He could end up being another dud, or he could end up being our own SBW who knows, but with his size and obvious potential I reckon it might be worth a shot early on. Let's face it, we don't have a lot of other options unless someone has heard news of a major back row signing? Nah didn't think so. And I wouldn't want to see Blair back there again, he's played much better at prop.

I've left Koro out of the starting side because we would be mad not to play Richards on the wing. A few people have criticised his signing, but he a seriously good player with loads of experience and we didn't sign him to play State Cup. Koro and Nofo can contend for the other wing spot, but I'd have Nofo ahead at this stage. Competition for positions can only be a good thing and it looks like there might be quite a bit of it within the top 25 next season - it will bring out the best in the players and sort out the pretenders from the real deals.

It certainly appears we may push a prop back to the back row. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be Taupau if his pre-season form warrants.

Blair has to play at prop otherwise we just don't get any value out of him.

I think woods can successfully make the transition to lock like Trent Merrin has this season
