2015 ALL STARS TEAMS UNVEILED

Brooks can hold his head high after tonights game …. He did well !

Mitchell Pearce is a hack , I pray he doesn't get picked for NSW this year .

Pearce was awesome for his club at the back end of last season, but he fails big time on the rep stage. I hope a decent half can step forward for NSW this year, otherwise they will have to stick with Hodkinson, because Pearce sucks at the higher level.

Well done to Brooksy, he did really well playing out of position :unamused:

pearce began well…but faded, lost his way...Brooks went OK...a game of footy somethin g to watch...did joseph paulo get a run?

I got home from work, just in time to see Thurston going around engaging with the fans. As tired as he seemed to be after the game, he still touched hands, chatted and had photos taken when asked. Gotta love him. My "better half "recorded the game for me so i will watch it tomorrow. Woohoo my day off

From what I saw Brooks still fell off a lot of tackles.
Decent effort from him in a number of different positions though

Brooksy in the centres…

Wayne Bennett's idea , Brooks left Centre :unamused:

Masterstroke.

So, Bennett gets to cherry pick the team and they run out against a team sprinkled with stars, but also sprinkled with NSW Cup players and untested players.

and they still lose.

In a game where George Rose runs out man of the match.

Ridiculous.

At least Brooksy didn't get injured.

Question

Do you think the all stars pre game, and the whole concept of the game in general bring us all closer or does it do the opposite?

I can't help but feel it separates rather than unites.

Totally agree KS. The whole concept just smacks of a charity benefit, with the game seemingly following a scripted outcome. They would be better off just picking 2 indigenous teams to play against each other, maybe city v country?

Unless you're indigenous, i really don't know what the appeal of this game is. About as appealing as City v Country to me. The only thing i can think of is that its played in the middle of February, at a time when everyone is starving for a bit of footy that they'll take anything.

F2Bs idea sound good….have two indig teams playing....

though from a players perspective, when else will a kid like Brooks get to play with blokes like JWH, James Graham, Foran and Vatuvai?

Ink,I'm going to go out on a limb here and say in my opinion the All Stars game is merely an overrated trial game where the players get some footy the officials try their new methods and the fans get a taste of some footy before the season starts..

For the diehard fans of league which Iam,it makes us start packing away the summer sports and tunes us in to what's ahead..NRL season 2015…..

Just my thoughts....go the mighty Wests Tigers.....

Its a celebration for indigenous players and fans.
we have similar with internationals, state etc …ive no probs with it

Not a fan of the all stars concept. Another nothing footy game in my book.

I've never been a big fan of it either, NT, I think the season is too long already, but I must admit I enjoyed seeing the excited and happy faces of all the Aboriginal supporters out there at the game last night. They were certainly enjoying it and I imagine they would like the concept to stay.

With the games core suffering in the country areas and for mine being neglected by the commission, I think it may well be an important match in keeping and encouraging aboriginals to play.

The game has changed dramatically on the back of the Bellamy's, Hasler's and latter Maguire's, since we won the comp. Sadly, basically becoming the domain of the giant Polynesian type physique that works well as it gets rested before fatigue can get a hold,, and generally at the expense of more talented and/or smaller players. Even a half has to be around ninety kilos nowadays.

I am heartened to see a Tyrone Peachey getting a run at Penrith, and hoping that the new ruck rules which speed the game up will bring this type of player back to the fore.

Yeah, I get that Flip and you're right. I was talking from my own perspective. As a game to watch I find it uninspiring, mainly because of what I view as a meaningless result. I like F2B's idea of two indigenous teams better.
