2015 Asian Cup

The top 2 teams bomb out in the same night, all of a sudden we're looking great to take this out. UAE will be tough but on the back of our home crowd we should be able to get over the line, followed by Iraq/Korea, both teams we can definitely beat.

Major issue with Franjic could prove our downfall

We have no natural left backs on the bench after Herd went home with an Achilles injury and Korea seemed to make our left side the focus in their attack against us last game

I'm not a big fan of Wilkinson either

Timmy Cahill looked good at left back for about 90 seconds on Tuesday night

Should have learnt this after the WC. I suppose McKay will be the obvious replacement. Played a fair bit of left back.

I'm a big McKay fan , but he lacks height for the left back role

I reckon they will move Sainsbury and bring Wilkinson in

Ange seems to be a fan of Wilkinson

I think you'll find its right back boys

Franjic will start unless he's broken something. Problem is he's been weak defensively all tournament. Plus we have no other right backs in the entire squad.

Milligan and Wilkinson would be the options. However the wings are the Koreans greatest strength, especially the left wing Son. A make shift back could get skinned alive and cost us the tournament

He is right sorry , when I noticed it he was coming back on side so it appeared left :brick:

It looked like a groin to me and I doubt if it is serious he will play

I think half the issue with his defensive issues is the style we play ,like West Ham our backs push a long way forward and can get caught out on the counter attack and Franjic is no speed demon either

It is a major concern though

Matt McKay. Coz he's the only player in the tournament who tucks his shirt in U8s style. He's the Ray Cashmere of the Socceroos

He's that short he needs to tuck it in or it would trip him up

Hahahahaha good luck to your Hammers vs my Reds this week Happy. I'm tipping Carroll and Downing to each get a double.

Anyone going to the final ?

Bought my tickets last night and dayum it was a struggle to find 2 seats next to each other. Hopefully it means it's going to be a sell out and an awesome atmosphere for my first professional soccer game

My missus bought me tickets a few days back as a surprise (God love her!) Looking forward to it. We will struggle to beat the Korean defence but.

If we don't win it tomorrow we never will.

We lost to them 1-0 2 weeks ago after we rested 4 players. Even then we dominated every aspect of the game and with a bit of luck should've won the game comfortably.

With a full strength team, a paroachial 85,000 strong home crowd and our attacking style of play we should break their defence at least once.

I predict a 2-1 win in our favour

Agree with your sentiments Tony lets hope they can do it.Especially for Tim Cahill aas this will be his last real chance to win silverware with the Socceroos.

My prediction

1-1 after 90 minutes

2-2 after extra time and Australia to win via a Matt Ryan spot kick 9-8 in the penalty shoot out after blocking his opposition keepers shot

Here is a little light reading about what the rest of our football conference think about Australia
