Should Australia even be in this competition?

Probably not but we were voted in , do you ever hear Iraq etc reffering to themselves as Asians ? Nope .

It is the Iranians and the Iraqis that don't want us in if you read the article

I reckon next meeting of the FFA we won't

Read the article the page before

We are men and women's Asian Cup champions and hold the Asian club championship

A lot of countries aren't happy

I mean it's good for football etc and ive lived in China/Japan for 3-4 years but Australia is in Oceania isn't it?
We were too inept to qualify for the world cup playing a South American team so we decided to jump into Asia. I dunno…

You seem upset that we won ? And you'd be happy to know we've beaten Uruguay to qualify for the World Cup previously !!And South America is not part of Oceania, were much closer to Asia so Probably makes more sense if you think about it

Not upset. I didn't watch the game and don't know 99% of the players. As I said above it's good for football in Australia but just questioning Australia in the Asian cup. Aus did beat Uruguay in 06 which was great but prior to that? But if Aus got voted in then i assume that's fine.

Is NZ eligble to play in the Asian cup?

Anyway congratulations to the team for winning it.

My missus bought my tickets a few days back. Looking forward to it. We will struggle to beat the Korean defence but.

If we don't win it tomorrow we never will.

We lost to them 1-0 2 weeks ago after we rested 4 players. Even then we dominated every aspect of the game and with a bit of luck should've won the game comfortably.

With a full strength team, a paroachial 85,000 strong home crowd and our attacking style of play we should break their defence at least once.

I predict a 2-1 win in our favour

Your prediction proved correct.Hope you had a good night Tony supporting the green and gold.

Well that was well worth getting home at midnight for.

When we conceded in the 91st minute I thought we were going to bottle it and lose. Our defensive effort lost it a little when Franjic went off.

So happy that Cahill and Bresc will go out champions.

What an extraordinary game that was! A couple of great goals and moments that I won't forget. Very happy for Bresciano and Cahill who now have some sort of silverware.
Luongo will be playing in the national team for a long time. An awesome find! Sainsbury plays well above his years and so do many others.
Vindication for Ange who has many critics and had many doubters.
The refereeing was ordinary. Asia's clear best ref, an Uzbek, wasn't appointed. I don't know why.
The only blight on the night is a possible Achilles injury to Kruse. Very unfortunate for him.
Australian football is on the up. Club and now national football champs of Asia. It'll be interesting to see whether Cahill continues. That's a massive high to leave on. World Cup qualifying will start shortly so hopefully Ange can build on the momentum.

Do i get 3 points for my correct prediction FT ?

What a bloody night ! Great crowd, great atmosphere and a great result ! Gooo the socceroos !

I've said it before and I'll say it again, our current national soccer team is the greatest representation of Australia and it's people (culturaly diverse yet proud aussies, determined, respectful and now proven winners).

Can't wait to see what this current crop can do under Ange at the next world cup. Exciting times ahead

Good try  , this Socceroos team will grow together in the next few years and can see some good times ahead.
They didn't control Possession well when they were leading 1-0 , with 10 minutes to go . The nerves were creeping up.

How many times do you see it though. One team leading by a goal and then all of a sudden the trailing team goes all out in the last 5-10 minutes with crosses, corners and shots all over the place. The amount of money I've lost on those injury time equalisers. Unbelievable

The Koreans were going down in the box off the ball all night. When they couldn't break the Australian defence they had to resort to that sort of crap.

Ange has done well. This team doesn't rely on Cahill to make up the goals now, and I don't we will see any drubbings any time soon. He has placed us well for the next world cup. Could use another class finisher though.

Glad to hear you had fun(who wouldnt of).Like you I am very proud of them and its true that It is definitely the strongest coming together of Australia and the aussies from migrant backgrounds of over 200 nations that live here in relative harmony.Every single one of them screaming for the green and gold as loud and as passionately as you and I do.Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI.

What a terrific win to Australia. Well done to the team, and the coach. But was was equally pleasing was to see the success that David Gallop has enjoyed and the way the game has grown under his leadership.

And in the true traditions of the bone-heads that run Rugby League, This bloke Grant who runs our "Commission" got rid of Gallop and hired the dope David Smith that we have running it now.

Rugby League will forever remain an "also ran" sport while we give meat-heads the reins of our game. It does not have the appeal to attract big name backers like Lowy for soccer. What a joke!
