2015 - Positve and negatives for Jason Taylor

Positive for Taylor: he was able to convince/bluff/cajole/demand that a dysfunctional group of Board members believe that he had some type of strategy to build a "winning culture" at the club

Negatives for fans and members: see above

Not doing what he stridently said he would do.......Improve our defence. We are still soft as jelly.

For persisting with Lovett in the team.
For no indications that he is or ever will be, a first grade Coach.

Brought better injury treatment to the club,
His main positive is that he probably won't be here past the first half of next year
( hopefully even earlier)

1\. We were one field goal of 11th
2\. The defence did improve by over 10% from previous years two years and was 7th best year all time Wests Tigers.
3\. He didn't blame refs etc and was pretty open that we weren't good enough etc.
4\. Lovett missed 21 tackles and made 663\. Second only to Farah.
5\. Sure, he's got work to do but for now I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

We were equal last . Doesn't matter How we spin it,14 teams were ahead of us and better than us . We have to face it. Not try to make it sound better. That happens too much .

We are still soft, we don't scare any teams, they roll over us up the middle in most games and still make heaps of ground after contact,
My opinion of Lovett, is just that, my opinion. yours is different, that's ok,
Taylor is an embarrassment with his continuos excuses and laughable comments . I do agree that it is good that he doesn't blame Refs. But if he'd onlyaccepted some of the responsibility without bagging everyone Previous then I'd have some respect for him. But it's never his fault.

Sure but the point is there wasn't much separating us from 11th (or last). I think Lovett is a 22yo in his first season who played way more minutes then Taylor wanted. He won't play for Australia but he's the type of player every club needs.

Again there is still huge scope for defence to get better but there has been significant improvements over past two years.

Anyway at the risk of being repetitive I will reserve judgment on Taylor until well into next season.

I wonder if you realise that "equal last" is a spin comment itself. We actually were not equal last, we were 15th. The NRL table is not graded on match points alone, otherwise there'd be a playoff for 8th every time teams drew,.

i think 20 of those happened when the tigers played panfers at leichardt when lovett was moved to the centres after simona was injured. that was a really weird, and some would say, just plain dumb coaching decision.

Yep. That was clanger. considering there were more capable players on the field at could have filled in at centre.

I think 15th/16th.

Panthers, Eels and Knights will all be better team's next year. Panthers through better luck of injuries, Eels and Knights via signings. I expect those 3 teams to improve more than Tigers. So where does that leave us? You would have to say Tigers are likely for the spoon, someone has to get it. Unless they somehow buy a rep forward or two before next year.

The club was starting to be destroyed we'll before Taylor was employed,go back to Sheens and his selections on the field when he had Fulton at 5/8 or Rowdy at 5/8 etc,Potter had his hands tied and had to play second rowers in the centres because of no money and severe injuries…oh and remember the factional in house fighting,Robbie gate etc....

Taylor came into a huge mess,no money,salary cap issues and a team of inexperienced young players...as Tigerspirit has said,give the bloke a go,and we will see what happens mid next season......

When the pendulum starts to swing against you as a coach, the only way to bring it back is through wins.
Mary did it with Saints. He was under the pump and doesn't have the greatest roster.
JT has a couple of Positives. However with something like 8 wins and 16 loses… It's going to be a hard job to sell the "Positives".
That last loss against Saints wasn't a great way to end the season for JT.
