But I thought the law experts on here said that wasn’t possible lol.

Barrett has submitted a resignation letter.
Cleary hasnt.

There-in lies the difference…most can see it.

So your saying according to employment law, if you submit a resignation and your employer declines it then you now operate under a different set of laws. By law now they can demote you and get you doing things outside of your contract with no ramifications. We really do have an employment expert on our hands here lol lol lol lol.

No… You're saying it's by law.

I'm going by what's happening at Manly.

Its clear for all... or most... to see

so all of manly's problems/drama are gone r they

Does Ivan have another son that we don’t know about? Because I think I just found him.

Instead of smart ….e answers why don’t you look at facts , why would Pascoe or Go , NOT say that Ivan has asked for a release , ( if he had) instead of just making obscure comments,???
Its a bit like you , doesn’t make sense .

I dont know what Ivan asked for, but it certainly wasnt the time to announce to anyone that he had asked for a release.
Pascoe's responsibility is to protect the interest of the club first and to air something like that during the competition, and leading up to a game - if indeed it did occur - would have been irresponsible and not in our best interest.

**Penrith exposed Ivan** everything since has been an exercise in damage control - imo.

Seems like an odd thing to do. Ruining the reputation of someone (who highly values their reputation) that is supposedly your friend and that you're trying to woo as your coach.

Playing devil's advocate, maybe Penrith knew that if they exposed him it was then going to become an unstable situation and Wests would likely release him, which would work in their favour?

Please mr Pascoe can you either sign a new coach or let IC finish his contract and let us know pronto, because this thread needs to be put to bed forever. It’s at rock bottom

Seems like some here don’t want to admit that they’ve been pushing a dead horse, even when confronted by quotes from those who were present,
Now the storey is that Go and Pascoe were just protecting the club,BS

Is saying that you were wrong that hard to swallow?

Of course they have been protecting the interests of the club GCT through all of this.

None of us are aware of the content of any of the conversations that have been held between Cleary, Pascoe, and Go and to think they would share anything that would damage Cleary and or the club while he is still contracted to us as our head coach, would be very poor management and totally unprofessional.
He may not have asked for a release when Marina Go was quoted in August, but it is highly likely things have progressed one way or another since then, and we are all speculating as to what the outcome will be.
There has been enough activity in the media and no denials from the club, to suggest that there are doubts over Ivans future at the club and at this point that is all we have to go on.
Dont care who ends up being wrong or right about it - just want some resolution.

Benji Marshall says Wests Tigers should look to hire Broncos assistant coach Jason Demetriou as next coach

WESTS Tigers veteran Benji Marshall says the next man in line to coach the club is north of the border and it’s not Wayne Bennett.
CEO Justin Pascoe has been busy jet setting across the Tasman interviewing potential replacements for current coach Ivan Cleary.
But Marshall says the man who is a perfect fit for the job is closer to home.
He has endorsed Brisbane assistant coach Jason Demetriou as someone who can lead the Concord club into the future.

“He’s one of the best coaches I have ever been under, technically and culture wise,” he said. “Does the club take a leap on a not so high profile coach or a high profile coach?
“To me it doesn't really matter. What I do know is players come and go and coaches come and go and the one thing that always remains in the club and the fans.

“No matter who it is, the players will drive where it’s going.”

While former South Sydney coach Michael Maguire is high on the list of targets for the club, Marshall sees plenty of merit in luring mastercoach Bennett to Sydney.

“I haven’t been coached by Madge [Maguire] but I have met with him a few times and he’s a great guy. I think Wayne would also be a good fit, his whole coaching style and the culture he brings, he’s got good people around him,” he said.

One of those guys “around” Bennett is Demetriou, who’s tutelage he’s been under at the Broncos as an assistant coach for the last two seasons.

Before that, he had a stint as player-coach for the Keighley Cougars in England. Demetriou returned to coach in Australia in the Queensland Cup. He took the Northern Pride to consecutive minor premierships and to the title in 2014.

He was an assistant coach with the North Queensland Cowboys in their premiership winning year in 2015.

Demetriou moved south of the border to be the head of coach of the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup, where he was also part of the coaching staff at the Dragons in 2016.

Marshall will go into his 17th preseason when the squad returns to training in November and the veteran playmaker already has one eye on his future post his playing days.

He’s already dabbling in some coaching at the development level and says he is willing to try his hand in a more full-time capacity even though the stress and pressure is “probably worse” than being an NRL player.

“You have to have a bit of a screw loose apparently [to be an NRL coach],” he said.

“The season just gone I did coaching on Mondays with Balmain and Fridays with Wests in SG Ball and Harold Matthews with their halves, hookers and fullbacks.

“I enjoyed that. I’m doing that again this year. Apart from playing footy there is no better feeling than teaching kids and watching them put it in practice and being stoked with what they are doing. It gives me a kick.

“There’s a chance I will do some coaching, whether that’s specialist or assistant I don’t know at the moment.”

Yeah, fair enough I can see that, but would someone who calls himself Ivan's friend do that? Seems like a high, and potentially destructive risk to take.

Demetriou being spoken about as doing a Cam Cirrado whilst the Broncos wait for Seibold

Meaning Bennett heading south?

You would think so.

Demetriou has pretty big wraps does he not? Like in the same way Seibold was rated before he took over from Souths? Ciraldo is merely a stand in.

Does anyone actually think Bennett/ madge is coming here in the next couple of weeks before preseason starts, I just can't see it happening unless the board come out announce it in next few days I think it's Ivan still but either way the club needs to put this to bed for everyone especially the players.

Would have the season to implement Bennett's philosophy and have the club ready for Bennett's arrival in 2020\. Don't mind the move tbh.

I took Yossarian's post to imply that Demetriou stays in Brisbane to hold the fort next year until Seibold takes over in 2020 freeing up Bennett to come to Sydney (hopefully WT) in 2019\. But, either option would be appealing to me. Bennett to WT in 2019 is my first choice but Demetriou to WT in 2019 as interim head coach followed by Bennett in 2020 is also appealing. I just find it interesting that Benji is making public comment. I wonder if he's been asked to comment by the club to keep fans hopeful that good things are happening until we are in a position to make a formal announcement.

same, but wouldn't that mean that the 2019 season would be a poor one?
