I think Demetriou could be a smokey for the job if Maguire holds off signing. With Siebold assured of the Broncos job and Wayne moving on probably to Souths it leaves JD out in the cold. I doubt he would want to stay under Bennett at Souths and would be looking at moving up to head coach. I think he would have as much pull as Bennett with the players and juniors at the Broncs and may attract some of the younger brigade here.

I didn’t know that there was a cap on Coaches, isn’t that the case
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t , when did that change?

The last EBA not so much on Coaches you can still pay a head coach whatever you want but it means less that Clubs can spend on their football operations which includes the coach his staff sports science etc etc

Maybe Mum Burgess could be his assistant, that could be better than a TPA

the 28 person roster is what it is - and anyway the coach can
"negotiate" players out of the squad and bring others in if he wants…....

Des back to Manly was a real shock I would have bet anyone that would not happen but it just goes to show we don't know much really , we have Madge , Bennett , Seibolt , Taylor , Toovey , Walters , all looking for a coaching job , I left CLEARY out as I think he is as good as gone , who we get I have no idea at all but once the first club come out and states we have signed X then it will all fall into place , Bennett could be a real chance hear early if Broncos secure Souths Coach but Madge could be the man for us as I think Bennett would be over the top $$$ for us

Wests Ashfield have posted a huge $$$poker machine profit, part of which could be siphoned to pay for Wayne.

We keep hearing about the money that WA has ,
Wheres it been this year it been hiding this year

I suppose a new coach would look at the huge amount of players that are not contracted
at the club from end next season.
He will have a chest full of cash to chase the players he wants ,so there is an upside for him moving into his second season. And he still has 2 spots for next season a forward and back maybe.

Been busy for the last few months, and contradicting himself every week or so, at least his last guess seems more like what’ll probably happen A swap with the The Broncs for Siebold, don’t like the thought of Maquire, but at least better than Bennett,
Now what’s the story going to be tomorrow ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or the next.

I hope this is not a gee up? Man is no fool and you needs to take stock of what you are saying.
He has been monitoring WT for quite a while and well aware what he has got to work with, squad potential and how many spots & what $s he has available for this year.
Any coach worth his slot would be happy with this squad and future potential to build on.
Really you call yourself a supporter of this club. Just get a life.

Just a quick question to the pro Bennett supporters talking about how much better we'd be due to who he can bring with him etc. What talent did he bring / attract to the the dragons and Newcastle while he was there? I know Darius followed him, but no other names come to mind

For me it’s more about what he brings with him moreso than who - high profile, will attract sponsorship, has the media walking on egg shells and the refs running scared. Imagine if the refs favoured us even half of what they favoured the Broncos this season simply because Wayne is our coach! We can only dream.

As far as the who goes - I think there may be one or two players willing to follow Wayne out the door if he goes. By all accounts TPJ, Oats and Lodge seem to be holding back, waiting to see what Bennett is doing before committing to the Broncos. I’m not sure if any of them have actually re-signed for next year as yet?

I know they may probably be a long shot to follow him to another club but if they did, I would much rather it be to us than to a team like Souths who don’t really need them.

I believe that most of his sponsorship is from Qld sources and I doubt if most of that will want to sponsor him if he’s not attached with the Broncos

TJP was quoted on Tuesday that when gets back he will be re signing with the Broncos as soon as he’s home,
Cory Oates has already said that he’s staying at the Broncos , wants to be a one club player

We could of got Brian Smith and he could of done the same for a third of the price

your a hard man Happy…...I would say Madge would have as much pull as most coaches, except maybe Bellyache and Uncle Wayne. As for the over training thing, you would imagine he would have learnt a thing or two from the past.

Anyway as a coach I see him As a upgrade to what we have in Cleary. Not expecting miracles with the roster he has at his disposal but Iam happy if in fact we have signed him
