2019 Coaching saga -Thread

On the Ivan text - I don't particularly consider it cowardly that he texted the team. I would fully expect that the club told Ivan to stay away, not giving him the satisfaction of coming around to say goodbye face to face.

The football equivalent of being "frog marched" off premises.

The fact that he's gone etc. - good riddance. Fingers crossed for a Panthers implosion next year, though the football gods allowed Roosters to win the comp first year, so don't think they are listening to my prayers.

IC better make sure it all works out at the Panthers 'cause he won't be getting another gig in the NRL methinks.

1 year into Maguire's contract here, he'll start showing signs of "homesickness" and wish to return to the might South Sydney Rabbitohs. Mark my words

Go away…..

Did I hurt something?

Yep, your reputation.

What was it that I said that was so offensive??? When I wrote it it was all in harmless fun, but you blokes seem to think otherwise. Harming my reputation? This is a forum… chill

Now that it is official Ivan will leave us with his reputation completely destroyed and in tatters. It is highly unlikely any club in the NRL would seek his services again.
Hopefully he has a terrible year with his mate Gould and they both get their fair share of karma.
It will be interesting to see what Maguire brings to the club imho he was far more preferable than Bennett

He will never have to work again under this deal.

Believe it or not coaches see it as lot more enjoyable than just a "job" he will probably never say so but his actions will hurt and haunt him for many years

Not if he makes the four next season.

Well she did have to but at least she did it in such a curt way that her true message reads loud and clear. That was the club giving the middle finger to old mate "Iv".

Took the high road. Stay classy wests tigers.

Yep, it would've been easy to take the low road. You really cant fault how the WTs management have handled the whole situation.

There was a middle road and that was to make an announcement that Cleary had been released and leave it there. That would have been consistent with most fan wishes. I'm not sure you can call it the high road to make public statements that you really don't believe.

What Go said was all factually correct. He has left us in a much better position to succeed.
The Tigers move on with the upper hand after it could have become another debacle.

Ivan (Aclue) Cleary is a good nickname. It highlights the way he treated the Wests Tigers players, supporters and management who put so much trust in him.

I have to disagree there. With the exception of Mbye, Thompson and to a lesser extent Matulino Cleary's recruitment has been very disappointing.

I still think Reynolds can play a vital role next year.
Are you saying we are not better off then when Taylor left us? We were lucky to get a coach at that point. If Ivan doesn't come we play out the season with Webster.

I hate to say it but yes he would. I thought there would be no chance Hasler would coach again after ruining the salary cap at 2 clubs, but look after 12 months someone is desperate enough to give him another go. Just glad it wasn't us!

I bet Cleary will be getting a Christmas from JT. JT is now as popular as Benji circa 2005 by comparison. Who’d have thought that 6 months ago 😂

Anyway, glad this is all finally put to bed.

#Maguireempire

Here's hoping our club steers clear of hashtag slogan crap. Have never understood the concept really, it sounds like the domain of the teenyboppers of the world IMO. #justinbeiberbff and the like.

Good luck Madge, will be nice to have a coach with a bit of cajones about him unlike Ivan the Eunuch.

I don’t understand why GO had to thank the slimmy turd.

Yeah, Ivan we salute you!

The Tigers have come out so far on top in my opinion.

We are talking abut a dual premiership winner (both UK and Australia) including a Challenge Cup and a World Club Challenge Title that is currently doing a great job for the Kiwis compared to a coach that has made one GF appearance 7 years ago and has been sacked.

Madge was technically sacked too but there was no questions that the guy could coach and has always been the No.1 pick every time a coaches job's were in jeopardy.

Don’t know how to post it but I just saw on Facebook a Paul Crawley tweet: “at what point does Ivan Cleary owe WestsTigers fans an explanation?”
This is not going away any time soon😉

The media will not let up on this one. The first report I read this morning was not about the rights or wrongs of what has happened, it was a dismantling of the lies that Cleary told the media and Ivans claim that it was all media "disinformation". The media are taking this one personally and will wring it for all its worth for as long as they come. Glad it will be all directed at Penrith.

I think we will get some media compassion out of this.

Be funny if Gus changes his mind..Sorry Iv we going with Ciraldo after all..
