Wests Tigers have today announced the club's 2020 Canterbury Cup and Jersey Flegg squads as both sides continue their preparations for the season opener on Sunday, March 15.

After a successful first trial against Canterbury-Bankstown on the weekend, Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg will play their second trial match this Saturday against the Penrith Panthers in a curtain-raiser to the NRL trial later that night.

Wests Tigers' young guns will then take on North Sydney in their third and final trial the following weekend at Macquarie University on Friday, February 28.

Wests Tigers Canterbury Cup side, Western Suburbs Magpies, will play their trial fixture against Mounties/Bulldogs on Saturday, February 29 at New Era Stadium, before they kick off alongside NRL at WIN Stadium on Sunday, March 15.

Western Suburbs will field a number of new faces in 2020, with Brad Abbey, Matheson Johns, Austin Dias, Joseph Ratuvakacereivalu, Salesi Fainga’a, Tyrone Faulkner, Jordin Leiu, Joseph Taipari and Lachlan Talau — the brother of NRL squad member Tommy — all taking part in the club's NRL pre-season training.

Former Raiders and Dragons hooker Wayne Collins will take over as Head Coach for the Magpies in 2020, while Wayne Lambkin remains on as Jersey Flegg Coach.

Luke Rouland is one to look out for. He’s a born footy player, can play pretty much anywhere on the field, was playing first grade at narellan Jets at 17 years old and was one of their best players, scoring a hat trick and multiple other tries in other games. Mostly a fullback/five eighth.

Him and his bro both go good.

See link to Holy Cross v St Patricks Blacktown. A lot of Balmain talent in the team obviously with second rower Brandon Turneth scoring two tries, Zac Camroux, Cougar Wheeler and young Sykes. Look for the length of the field try by winger Jordan Hill who is tall and extremely quick. Nice to see one of our feeder schools producing talent. Note on the chase for Hill is our Eels signing, Aust Schools 5/8 Tyler Field.

Where are Field and Kai?

Looks like there’s some players missing from the list on here - Field and Kei are Listed in the Tigers article.

Thanks. I am looking forward to watching young Kai. He is the cousin of Jonah Lomu!

Good to see Abbey is staying.
Hope his knees come good and he can have an injury free period this season for us.

Why wouldn't he stay?
We only just signed him...
Hasn't even played a game.

For what?

To see Abz.

Hes injured, yeah......

Gun 20s player yet to shine.
I hope hes not another Lamar Leovave or Tui Lolohea.
Hes been around for ages and barely played grade.

I have low expectations.

Isn't he playing in the CC trial at centre? He will be rusty but I hope he makes something of this comeback. It would be a good story and the Tiges could potentially do with him this year.
