It’s the club jersey, you took money from a sponsor but baulk at someone else doing it?
TBH, I don’t know of any sport that doesn’t have a sponsors name on the shirt?

I was being sponsored, I wore the clothes, used the gear, put stickers on my car because I was receiving the benefit.

I get no benefit from Wests Tigers sponsors so why would I pay money to advertise for them?

NFL still don't have uniform sponsorship, NBA recently added a small patch, MLB are starting this year.

I am sure most major sports could survive without advertising. They make money though ticket sales, TV rights and merchandise. Advertising is extra profit and becoming more invasive every year.

I think you are being pedantic, but that's fine, it's your opinion.

Without sponsors, we don't have a club.

Especially during the lean years. If Meriton didn't sponsor us a few times there, we would not have survived.

At least our sponsors somewhat blend with our colors. As someone said, remember herbal world, lol?

I don't mind supporting companies that support us, if and when I can.

I think that depends on your definition of a club. Most of us have played sport at some point in our childhood where the coach was a volunteer, the players paid for their clothing, equipment, transport and registration.

The NRL may be different without sponsorship, salary caps might be lower, there may be less staff assisting the teams, the best players may move to a competition that allowed sponsorship to earn more money. But it would still exist.

I am not arguing against all sponsorship and I can see the benefits, I am just saying I will not buy or wear a current NRL jersey because of the large and obvious advertising.

A simple design, and the simpler designs I find are often better.

They can rip off Barcelona if they like, but our colours are a no go.

The black version I saw has a rather prominent Magpie on the right sleeve. The orange version has a little Balmain tiger on the rear neck.

These may not have been the 100% final versions but I got the impression they were from the retail boxes, i.e. the retail jerseys have a Magpie.

I opined it's probably time to do away with the Magpie and Balmain logos, the staff raised their eyebrows; I said "oh I guess the overlords are now entirely Magpies, so be it".

Yes, I did see those earlier, I don't know about doing away with the JV logo's, not hurting anyone and it gives us history.
And besides, the WT's logo is a tiger, though Wests put all the money in.
