The pleasing outcome was Tuki. We are short a good second rower and lock and he would do both very well I reckon.

I think he is going to be a very good lock in a couple of years.

He had big wraps on him, hopefully lives up to that but looks good. Definitely seems like more of a lock than a second rower which is where cowboys wanted him but with his build he seems like a middle forward. He's a massive unit

He wasn't quite as big as I was expecting, I liked the defensive work he got through and he was also strong with the ball. I also like the look of Cooper as a lock to keep an eye on down the track.

I was also really impressed with Cooper. Great tackle technique, and just went about his business - someone I knew very little about until this trial.

Definitely one to watch.

Created a nice line break in the 1st half and even put in some time in the centres during the 2nd half.

Cooper surprised me, he doesn't look like a centre but he's got good footwork/agility and put his winger into space a couple times as well. Hopefully we get to see him in NSW Cup this year or maybe even on a development deal.

I didn't know him before the game but definitely won't forget him after his efforts yesterday.

All I knew was he played centre at roosters but did well, guess there's a reason he was training with the top squad for so long.

His footwork at the line was impressive and I really liked the move he put on to put Talau through the gap who then put MCK away down the wing. We would have scored if Laurie hung onto the poor pass from MCK.

He's one of those centres who likes to set up his outside men with footwork instead of go himself and he's good at it. Why was Chee Kam even on the wing is my question ?

From memory Kei was on the wing at that point and was infield getting us off our line after a Roosters kick.

Kai Cooper reminds me a lot of Bailey Sironen. Just a footballer. Handy player to have in a squad.

Few Tahu traits to me.

Footwork unreal.

His hits surprised me. Must be working on D.

Really looking forward to team announcements on Tuesday (hopefully). Madge saying he’ll pick a squad of 24 then the Magpies reserve grade squad as well will give us a great indication of who has impressed,

What are you looking for in the team list this week mate?

I suppose I’ll be looking to see who gets named from the group of hopefuls I watched on Saturday. Also questions I have: Mbye fullback or 6 for round 1; AJ or Talau on wing; How lethal will our centres be; Brooks and Doueihi- how does that gel; will our pack dominate and who is leading the race for our pack; where does Garner fit in......
Mate, so many questions - but it’s exciting because if we get it right and players perform I reckon we have a very competitive team with decent depth

It's exciting to see who will play what positions and what sides they'll be on. Interested to see what sides our second rowers and centres play and interested to see who gets named on the wing besides Nofa.

Disappointed when I saw the no name Roosters beat us but after watching the game I was pleasantly surprised. Tuki, Simpkin and Laurie really looked a class above. Liddle and Fitzgibbon showed some promise. I have high hopes for our spine this year. Still think the back row is our Achilles heal.

I think Talau had a mixed bag yesterday, he made some horrible reads in defence though looked damaging with the ball.

I would probably have AJ in front of him at the moment for the second wing spot.

I would be looking to play Mbye at 6 in round one so would like to see him spend some time there against Manly. It is hard though because Doueihi also needs a chunk of time there as well.

AJ not playing yesterday maybe indicates he has the jump on Talau and I agree - Talau didn’t knock it out of the park yesterday
