[2022] If Madge goes, who you have as a replacement?

Hopefully not Sheens. He seems to be doing well on the recruitment side and figuring out which juniors to keep.

Need to find someone younger and who can motivate better than Madge. Ciraldo seems to be popular. If he doesn't want the job, maybe a good assistant from a top club.

I hate to say it but Flanagan could be the best option. I don’t know if any of the rookie coaches would come to us. Flanagan may even reject us.
John Morris could work also
I agree we'd likely be better off with a more experienced coach. Flanagan has had a few issues for sure but he knows what it takes to win and he's probably the best available of the experienced brigade. Ciraldo would be the best of the up and comers but he'll be in huge demand and I can't see us getting him.

So,

11 years: 5 coaches, 3 of them premiership winners (2 in this decade)

Now even if we fire this coach, what sucks is that it's going to be Mr 49% Tim Sheens in charge of picking the next one. He's a great innovator and reader of the game, but he's an epitome of this club: below average. No issue being below average, but for how long can you be below average?

More alarmingly though:
3 or 4? Football managers
4 different CEOs
3 chairmen/women
2 or 3 complete board overhauls

And still...
0 finals

I asked this question 3 years ago, what is the final straw? Let's say we go 15 years without finals, does the club survive in the NRL? The only reason this club is still in the NRL is because of us fans who continue to click on WT articles and watching their games. We are nothing but a clickbait machine for Fox, Nine, SMH, DT and the NRL.

The only people who can be somewhat proud of this whole fiasco is us Fans who have somehow stuck solid. At this point, kicking us out of the comp would feel like a sweet relief.
This season always had train wreck written all over it, but having to support through another year of crap is pretty disappointing.

I don't think there are any good answers, the board down are all hopeless.

Even us fans, we either laugh at how crap we are, give up, or get stressed and angry (usually all of these in any given 80 minutes).

How about Payten, when he gets fired from the Cowboys sometime this year? A homecoming for him. I can see something like this happening.
Will he call out our ‘best player’ in the first game of the season for failing to carry out the game plan and put him on notice?

John Morris with a focus on junior development and give him three seasons to work it out. Whoever was in charge of the Sharks getting them from demise of Flanagan to the rebuilt unit today needs to be recruited by us.

I think Madge was given a rough situation but he had a fair chance. to at least create something that shows a bit of promise.

Morris held his nerve, Maintained the support of his players and kept winning - Despite being a dead man walking....

He's the best of the next for mine...

I'd get an interim coach in for the rest of the season. Gives them time to pitch their name in long term but doesn't lock us in to anything if they're crap. And gives us time to sound out alternatives with a long term plan who won't be available to jump ship mid season.

It seems quite clear that Madge has lost the players. Everyone moping around like they don't care, no one has any idea what to do when on the field. Madge just isn't getting through to the squad anymore.

Wouldn't be opposed to someone from within, but definitely NOT Sheens! Gardiner, Kimmorley, Lambkin. They've all had success in lower grades and has their teams playing entertaining footy.

I know they tried before, but i would be having another hard crack at Ciraldo. Sheens is in place to take care of the other footy stuff so Ciraldo wouldn't have to put in place pathways etc, seems highly respected among the players, will have salary cap to spend (like Fitzgibbon) a brand new COE and is allegedly responsible for the Panthers defence, which has been pretty bloody good the last couple of years. We can't rely on another 2005 type situation of attacking genius presenting itself to get us through. This team needs to learn to keep turning up for each other. Only once the defensive attitude and resolve is in place to the point it is habitual will we begin to grow into a far more competitive unit.

Internally in the interim -

Robbie Farah.

I've never been his biggest fan, however I'd have him over Gardiner at the moment.

Then - John Morris or (Yuck) Flanagan.
We need something drastic - Madge was supposed to be the drastic, but it really hasn't worked. Cleary got far more out of worse cattle than what Madge has endured.

I've been a Madge sympathiser forever, but the Newcastle game did it for me. Worse than the doggies game to end last season, and it's only round 2.
