2023 Expectations

I heard a stat once where no team that has had 5 changes to their top 13 side from the previous year has ever made the 8 in the first year after the changes.
With Api & Isaiah guaranteed to be in the top 13
We can only really change 2 more positions to have any shot at the 8
Based on all the talk recently about who we may get next year, I have a feeling that we will have 5 or 6 changes and we will have to wait until 2024 to be any real shot of making the 8
This is the most dribbly dribble I’ve read on the forum, thought I was on the wt till I die fb page again.

Personally I think we need alot more than 2 positions to change to be any shot of the 8

That works the other way with the Tiger's get 5 first grade standard player's and replace the reserve grade player's it's like getting 10 new players and that's a big plus

Minimum expectations is always coming 8th. Making the finals has to be the goal for all clubs, some aim even higher

We've had rough squads before and come 9th. A few more signings and we can have another crack. I doubt we'll make it, but if we don't even aim that low we will win the spoon again

Depending if we can land Klemmer, Leniu and the others we’ve been linked too, I will feel confident about not getting the spoon again. But if we don’t we’ll be bottom 2 next year. But regardless I am not expecting us to finish in the 8 next year. Best place I see us is 12th.

Odd statement to make. Cowboys 2022, Panthers 2020. Raiders 2019. Roosters 2013.2017. WT 2005.

Did anyone hear the stats produced GF night that Penrith are ranked 16th in post contact metres ...but ranked No 1 in play the ball speed

Hope you are reading Benji ...Sheenius ....Robbie
That one tells me they focus more on hit and drop and keep that going through the set so that they have the defence on the backfoot rather than trying to carry defenders and offload after breaking the line.
Who was ranked first I wonder?

I know a lot of us are putting faith in Api,Papa and hopefully some new recruits, but Im shifting my opinion slightly on that because they are great players who will work well with some of our other good players like Hastings,Douhi,KM etc...the focus on how successful we are next year will be on the COACHING...Remember we are great at sacking coaches for poor performances and Im wondering how the head honchos will react to the 3 amigos if we get flogged week in week out with big scores....
Where we finish next year will definately be on the coaching of the team and the attitude they bring on the field...just my take on it...and I definately wont cop the old its a rebuild when we have a reasonable team with Api and Papa and hopefully new players to compliment the youth and experience we have going into next year...

They use their wingers and centres in yardage more than any other team.

Agree. Will be good to see what affect Sheens and Benji have and how preseason goes. I'm looking forward to seeing them in the box and talking pre and post game. Optimistic.

Pascoe n L Hap to sit back and make us richer(shape up or out)while Tim deflects any negative at the door.Buzz to have the scoop that its Robbie coaching a 10 plus, and Benjie is the perfect host as a mix oligist at the bar

Parramatta ranked first, Penrith ranked second

2023 gonna be rough again.

We are a team that's down on its confidence.

Most teams will pencil their games against us as a win.

Let's be realistic..

Every team would be counting us as a win because we are 4 points spooners behind any other club on the table from this year and the NRL will be hoping to make the flippers a sucess from the start.
We also have a coach who has not coached at an elite level for over a decade and he went so poorly when he last coached at that standard he was sacked (by us).
It is very easy to see why clubs would count us as a certain 2 points.I hope that they are wrong but at this stage i am far from confident

I think the dolphins are in trouble, the new Gold Coast titans

No one uses their backs for yardage more than us. Our backs take 3-4 hit ups per set. That's why our forwards run metre stats are always so low.

The main difference is our backs (except for Ken) make 4-5 metres per hit up whereas other club's backs make 10m. Hence why we're always kicking from inside our own half whereas other teams are putting attacking kicks in on us.

I doubt if the NRL will let them fail as they are a new Brisbane side,i may be very cynical but i would be very surprised if they don't get a lot of 50/50's go their way.

Because they missed each of their marquee targets now?
Because they’re struggling to attract marquee players, the current team they have is dog and will struggle to make the 8 I don’t think Wayne can pull a miracle this big. Think about when the titans first got introduced, Scotty prince Preston Campbell mat Rogers, what have the dolphins got? Some Melbourne props at the end of their career and a cowboys bench player.
