2023 Forwards

A few on here having mentioned Lodge…

While I think he offers our pack some aggression that is lacking, he also gives away a lot of penalties.

Now in a team that can defend penalties, his impact far outweighs the penalties he gives away.

I’m not sure we can defend to this standard to enjoy the benefits a player like this brings.

Hastings at 13 will work so would Brooks and Laurie either side of ruck
Put Douhie into the centres

Maybe. I worry about Laurie defending in the line. Brooks is a pretty good defender but he sometimes misses tackles in the line as well.

Doueihi is an issue because his defense is poor. I still think he is the player most likely to make a bust for us though.

I have no idea what is going to work. Sheens and co have their work cut out for them.

We really need a few power forwards to boost our pack .
Our genuine Ist grade forwards ,Stephano , Api , Joffa , Papalii ,
Plus maybees : Musgrove ( inconsistent) Pole ( young and light )
Twal (good tackler rare line breaks )
Cant use some cup forwards that tasted 1st grade as not up to it
Against Roosters and Raiders commentators described our team as not nrl standard and it was like a training run for roosters and raiders
Given you need 6 run on fwds plus 3 bench and at best without injuries I've got 6 or 7 above we are 2 /3 short
Unless the pack is fixed our backs can't perform
Maybe Nov Tim will solve this

The problem with our Forwards is that our guys, even these “young guns”, seem all too soft and too small. They just don’t have that fight in them that pushes them to run off the back fence and through a wall (eg Spencer Leniu). They’re not angry enough or strong enough - Talau as a back rower for example. Pole maybe showed something but even Uto lost his way ( hopefully due to playing injured).
Feed them some red meat and angry pills for god sake! They just get man-handled like boys playing men.
We have to beef our pack up desperately with at least 2 middles that mean it and can show the way

Rubbish , he has what we don’t have mongrel, stop thinking of ways to not bring these type of players in and embrace what they bring and what we need

It's strange mob right.

Let's keep our players because everyone who gets mentioned isn't better (despite the fact they are), someone even mentioned keeping Seyfarth over Angus like seriously..

Or

No we don't need a player because they give too many penalties or some stupid reason despite everything else they do is a mile better than our current mob

Or

That player costs too much we better off keeping our current lot on high salaries who under perform.

Reality is we came last by a mile and were at least 10 wins away from the top 8. Our current mob are crap and we need to get experience, quality and winners in our team.

Lodge was close to the best prop in the NRL over the last 8 weeks or so, he was a big reason the Roosters did what they did to make the finals. He would be an instant upgrade over anything we have atm.

Buddy…I’m not thinking of ways to not bring players to the club.

I would love to have him here. I just think our team can’t defend anything that goes against us.

Ease up on the aggression. Jeez!

We are short on tough aggressive go forward props , we need to invest in one at a minimum, we never go forward , most of our guys hit the line then get pushed back , you will never win a comp doing this , go forward and fast backs will win games , we lack both

I don’t know why people need to be so condescending but you’re not alone.
If you want a quality organisation you need quality humans and lodge is not one. It’s a no to lodge for me and I’ve been called names for it but that’s my opinion, so stick to yours.

They're not strange, they're just outright delusional and clearly watch our games blindfolded or down half a bottle of JD.

It's absolutely laughable some of the dumb takes I've seen on here. Here's a few examples I've seen on here.

- Seyfarth over Crichton because AC would cost too much and
- Seyfarth is a potential Origin player
- We shouldn't get Briton Nikora because his salary would upset our players
- We should invest in Pauga and Talau rather than going after Lomax
- We shouldn't sign Lodge because of his past and he's average
- Our team is mostly good and it's only because of Madge that they don't perform
- We shouldn't sign Alex Johnston

It's pretty clear a portion of our fanbase on here take after the board in that they don't have a clue.

If Api & iSook can motivate our young lads, we should be decent...

Would really like some hard nosed experience heads added to assist with that though...

Imo, it's looking like....

8 Stefano Utoikamanu
9 Api Korosu
10 Joe Offa
11 Papaliii
12 Blore
13 Jacko

14 Twal
15 Pole
16 Seyfarth
17 Nu Brown or some one

With hopefully Musgrove leaving...
And guys like Tumeth, Kautoga, Rua, etc. pushing for spots.

Still feels incomplete imo.

Incomplete?

It’s 3 parts puss!!

I think the VAST majority of the forum would agree with you on the examples you've given.

The only ones that have been 50/50 in your examples are Lodge and AJ at the time.

From memory, the AJ thing was based on us potentially getting Addo-Carr and people much preferred JAC. I may be wrong, so please correct me if I am.

The Lodge argument will always be 50/50...he's a polarising player for reasons other than his past behaviour. I think Robinson has him in a good place right now and getting more out of him than we ever did...seems to be behaving and enjoying his footy. Good to see.

btw - I can't remember who, but you're right when you say there were a few people keen on Seyfarth when he was coming through...I think that talk has well and truly died out now. The kid has a go for sure, but simply not talented enough to make first grade let alone Origin.

Well said, not over exaggerated or condescending.

Doesn't matter what player we buy if the current mob think that they are don't have to work harder to be better. All we hear about is pushback by the squad at this club when people are brought in to effect change.
Any player can improve fitness and strength if they want to. Running hard and tackling hard is not a skill it's an attitude.
Our idiot lot get gassed and run twice as far in a game trying to get back on side when defending, because their line speed is so slow allowing the opposition to make easy meters and fast play the balls. That is all attitude - and ours has sucked for an age.
