On a side note, Brendan Santi has been selected for the Italian national side. He really improved as the season went on. Looking forward to seeing how he develops next year

I won't be surprised if he and Andrew Vela play FG at some stage next year.

Warren mcdonnell said Vela was to play first grade this year if he didn't get injured. I haven't seem him play at all so can't comment on his ability.

I'll be shocked if Santi doesn't play first grade in 2013, I'd imagine he was a big reason why sheens has moved heighington on.

Vela is like BMM in that he has massive wraps on him. You're right about Santi. If he gets his weight up to around 100kg or just over, he'll be like a younger version of Heighno but with a better workrate at the same age.

No mention of mulcahey.. The player that won us the games against the dogs?

He may very well be eliglbe for next year. I've only got limited info available, but someone like flash or TigerCrib would probably know.

Yes I'm pretty sure he's eligible for next year.

Yeah Santi looks to have the attributes, plenty tough and a good work rate. Hope he has a blinder on Saturday and kicks on into firsts next year

Santi reminds me of Fensom. Who would be somebody that would make a huge different at the Tigers.

[/spoiler

good call. I've said the same I reckon he is a fensom clone.

we have an embarrassment of riches in NYC next year.

the Balmain Sgt ball halves and hooker look outstanding, tedessco and sirro will start in NYC. the back row of Vela, Lovett and Santi will be the best in comp

I reckon I'm forgetting a few good uns from the magpies 2011 ball team outside the obvious sd well.

the future looks bright!

Pretty sure someone in another thread said he's 19 at the moment and he's eligible for next year.

So bright you gotta wear shades?

It's little wonder we are removing entrenched average first graders. They would be getting paid way more than we would pay a Santi or a Koroibete and doing a worse job.

I an much more a realist with the current team that won the NYC GF !!
Alot of the player will be expecting big things !! And I believe 3/4 of the players of the current side will not get a new contract for next yr !!
They may work with the current side but do bit stand out !!!
We all thought begovic wood be playin 1st this yr but not so !!
I think only the stand out " FREAK" if u like EG- teddy, sirro, and korribitie will be playin in the WT FUTURE !! Our current pack will struggle to find a future spot !!

I understand what you are saying, it's like that for most NYC sides though. Only a handful have generally gone on to play FG. It does look as though the Tigers may have up to half a dozen who could be playing FG within the the next year or two.

Consider this season the players who were all eligible to play NYC but spent time in FG:

Groat, Miller, Tedesco, Sironen and Koroibete. Now these 5 players all range from fair to certain starters in FG next season, plus there's the likes of Fotuiaka, Sue, Nofoaluma who could all get a run next season…Andrew Vela who missed this season is very highly regarded and could get a run, Brendan Santi and Kyle Lovett are in a similar boat...

The Tigers are well stocked moving forward over the next couple of years IMO.

I spoke to his cousin (santi) a fair bit on FB and he told me a few things that have come true way before they happened under sheens. Santi captained the Aussie schoolboys side, we have a very bright future here just hope they can all step up like that raiders 20's did

I like Mulcahey as a player. Don't know were he fits in as I think the combination of Moses and Brooks in the halves is too good to break up.

Mulcahy would either be in the 1 or on the wing if not in the 6 still next season. to be fair he only played there for the finals and the final game of the reg season so even though he was good he might have a bit still to prove in terms of his longevity. despite playing great in the finals I don't know if he has really proven himself as a great passe or creative player. he is way more of a fullback in that he takes it to the line with speed and supports the ruck area really well.

he could be good on the wing top replace koro or either him or rowe at fullback.

I am hearing that some of this years squad who are still eligable for the 20's may well be in the State Cup team in 2013\. Not 100% on the reasoning for this but it will be a good test for them to see how they may handle the top grade, it may also be because they want to keep some of the SG Ball players together in the 20's squad.

Its the old pathway, minus pres cup or u/23s…have some patience

Yeah, Potter may prefer them playing against seasoned footy players with how they handle the step up in class in case injuries hit & they are needed in FG or even giving him a better gauge on what positions he needs to recruit for in 2014 if he decides they won't make it, as clubs will already be tentatively trying to sign players for then now.

Blokes like groat and miller would have gotten a lot out of playing 5-6 games in the state cup this year IMO

As ink says this is the way it used to be, we expect kids to be great at 20/21 or they get thrown away and lost. 15 years ago if a bloke debuted at 23 the was normal. Now he would be considered a late bloomer.

Am new on this forum and living over in England I was unable to watch the 20's play this season but I am excited to hopefully see some of them get a run in the nrl next season. Are there any highlights of the 20's Grand Final anywhere? Liked the impact Sironen and Koro had when given there shot, hope there is more to come! Is Marshalls younger brother still going to be playing 20's?
