So much better a hooker than Reynolds that its not even funny!

I will remind everyone again Walters was always going to play hooker.. Jrey is a 5/8 end of story !

I'm shocked people think 13 is up for grabs. It's definately aloai he will continue on from last year.

I think Aloiai is more effective off the bench...high impact..less dirty work...well see what Madge does..

Aloia I has no motor his impact is yes off the bench !

I agree, plus hon. mention to 'dewey'. I'm satisfied enough that the players I wanted to go well did in fact go well.

Naughty corner for JR for not working on his passing game - will likely cost him a first grade spot.

In his defence JR hasn't passed left to right his whole career. Yet Ivan still overpaid him 200%. My god incompetence all around.

I even like Josh Reynolds and... That is 100% true.
His passing game is pretty average at best. He often can line up with the person outside him, but he isn't a person who would ever move the ball left to right. Which is why I pegged him in at Center, clearly we are overloaded there.

Yet Mbye passes everything. As a halves partnership, Reynolds + Mbye was one of the worst in the league. Yet some people here wanted us to recruit Michael Lichaa into this mix!? Yes I totally bagged out Mbye often, in fairness he as performed better then I expected. Yet playing Mbye as center and Reynolds at 5/8 doesn't make sense except each one has played together often.

Brooks too is a running halfback who plays a very Mitchell Pearce style game.

All of the above leaves us a little headless.

Yeah what a ludicrous idea...
Recruit a hooker... when we need a hooker.
What a bunch of imbeciles......

Really not sure why we’re getting analitical about a trial that had only half a dozen established first graders.

I just did the 321 for fun

See people's thoughts on who stood out

It happened tonight. And it couldn’t have been more clear cut.

So we thinking he’ll be the bench hooker?

The side looked so sharp with Walters at 9. When he went off it was very noticeable how poor our attack became

Josh is not a 9. We need to accept that and move on. Madge going so hard after Grant / Mbye next in line shows he knows Josh can't play there.

He will have moments, the odd dart, the odd kick chase...but 90% of his work at 9 is terrible. Can't pass, can't read the play. No game management skills.

Kicked on the 3rd...in a 7 tackle set!

He should never play there again.

He isn't a first grade level player anymore. Every time he steps on the field he does the same stupid stuff. He makes a good play every so often as you state but his overall game is terrible. He can't pass at 9. He takes bad options wherever he plays. We just have to use him in reserve grade. Madden is a better player at this point.

Steve ...we didn't score a legal try .....we were as sharp as a butter knife

Scoring tries isn’t the only metric used when analysing how a player is handling a position.

That is how a 10yr old would see things.

I would have thought someone with your brilliant football brain would understand that.

And I also noticed how many times the young 7 wanted the ball and Walters would jump around on a dime doing nothing really

He overplayed his hand ....a good hooker picks and chooses carefully when he gets out of dummy half

People need to realize that league is a 17 man game ....not one man band trying to show off his wares

You want to get the whole team over with a win ...not look good yourself and damn the side

3. Musgrove
2. Johns
1. Doueihi.

Special mention to Walters, did good but overplayed his hand a little, but I’m willing to put that down to the fact he was trying to impress the coaches in the trial game.

Happy we have an actual fullback now, his positioning was fantastic after being tested multiple times and threw a great pass to assist the try

Musgrove looked a dominant enforcer out there and will push for a starting spot during the year.

Johns ran hard and with purpose but strikes me more as a second rower than a centre, didn’t look to his winger once.

Musgrove and Douihei are huge signings for us.
Look like absolute stars.

If we can keep recruiting like that the future is bright.

Targeting Souths is a far better plan than targeting the Dogs for players lol

The fact Madge still wanted to sign Musgrove after a year out of the game showed me he really rates him and that he could be a class prop for us, and he showed that already in yesterday’s trial. Hopefully next week we get to see more of Doueihi working in attack, will be good to see him with brooks and Benji.

Would like Zane to find his front more often though and felt that, like your appraisal of Walters, Johns too was concentrating on personal impression and also somewhat at the expense of the side. But hey, it was a mixed player level trial, so pushing one's own barrow is to be expected. Adam, whilst he could have done a little better to not get caught in goal, did a competent job for the side from the back and chimed in well.
