A star is born...

Won't talk about the loss...absolutely brutal. I have never seen that happen in 40 plus years watching footy / both teams think they have won. Absolutely brutal.

Jake is a star.

19 yo...50 odd tackles...great service...in all the key plays.

This kid is a once in a generation talent.

You can't do what he did tonight at 19 playing hooker...yet he did it with ease.

Willow and co who said he was the real deal pre season, well done. He is going to be a star / origin level player.

85 minutes
7 runs 66m
58 tackles 5 missed
Good service from dummy half

Put pressure on Reynolds' field goal which allowed us to get to golden point.

Unfortunately was caught out at marker on the Tom Burgess try, but I'm sure we can all forgive a 19 year old making his first grade debut for being tired in golden point after making 58 tackles.

He will be challenging Harry Grant for QLD and Australian hooker for the next 10 years. The difference his quality of service made to our team was incredible. Will never play NSW Cup again thats for sure

Why the need to put ridiculous expectations on the 19 year old for goodness sake’s give the kid a break.

Yep...exactly what I said pre season. In fact, I think I said it was ridiculous to even think a kid could play NRL 9.

Well, I was wrong.

Expectations are okay when the talent is there...Two years ago Matty Johns said Harry Grant was the best 9 he had seen in 20 years. That is working out fine 🙂

Jake is the real deal. Expectations won't bother him...

His service was pretty good ...a few passes weren't great

Can someone tell the 7 it's not grid iron ...he has to behind his hooker .......

I was impressed with his motor what an achievement playing 80 first up against a huge forward pack at his age .

58 tackles. Souths bashed him with the ball and ran at him all night off of it.

Hats off kid, welcome to first grade.

Brooks was the next johns.

Let’s give him two games before building his statue.

Joffa got stepped for that one.

Well done Jake S. Welcome and I hope you stay for a while.

1,6 and 9 are locked

I tried to tell you the kid is every bit as good as Harry Grant at the same age. He’s a real footy player tackles, runs with precision and power, great speed and his service is sharp.

I hope some of the Liddle loyalists that have been having a crack about my arm chair analysis can see it now. He’s a star this kid unfortunately every one now knows.

I will put my hand up...have always been a Liddle man. To be fair, Jacob has been destroyed by injuries and we may never see what he could have been.

But Simpkin is a different level entirely, yes.

Yep , I was one mate , I watched Simpkin closely in reserves and noticed 2 things Which make him better than Liddle . His initial contact , and his playing to the whistle .
People can say the stats are better for Liddle , but what I mean is, when he hits a guy 4 players don’t come rushing in , because they’re worried he is going to get pushed a mile back.

And the second is something you can’t teach . I think Liddle is a perfect bench 9 though .

I started off thinking liddle will be our long term hooker but this kid is a star. Please lock him in for q couple of years before November
