A victory for how the game should be played

Was brilliant to see the style of footy that the Kiwi's used to win the 4 Nations title. Every try they scored was through the hands..fantastic to watch. The Aussies relied on a @@itty bomb, shepherd and a forward pass for theirs. Long live old fashioned rugby league, sincere congratulations to the lamb tamperers for their great victory. Probably have to say it was the most exhilerating style of footy seen since a certain team in black, white and gold in '05\. Great stuff NZ, thoroughly deserved.

The Kiwis played good smart football and deserve every accolade…
Outplayed the Aussies in all areas...
Congratulations to them, how good is S.Johnson.....

Congratulating, and even salivating, over a team beating Australia?
:unamused:
Not in my lifetime, thanks anyway.

I never took you for a bad sport CK,I was always taught to give credit where it was due,the Kiwis played very well,in particular our WTs players…I wouldn't call it salivating......

Nah, lets just blame the ref and claim there was a conspiracy from the outset of the tournament to make sure the Aussies lost it.

That sounds so much better.

Sorry boys, but I get no joy from any team beating Australia.
Congratulations to them if you like, but to be honest I didn't think they even went that well - scraping home against a team without half their top players who were being coached by someone who doesn't believe in front rowers plus being refereed by an Englishman!
All you Kiwis can go and enjoy yourselves now.

It was a Micky Mouse ''tournament''. Hardly anything to feel upset and bitter about.

I think Johnson is arguably better than Marshall ever was. Footwork is exactly the same, a fantastic cut out pass, leaves Benji for dead in the speed department, Benji never had that explosive pace that Johnson has, nor has he ever had the physical strength to break tackles as he breaks the line the way SJ does.

you are such a one-eyed aussie, clearly missed all those BLATANT late shots on johnson….

Didn't miss them.
Should have been more of them.
No apologies for being a one eyed Aussie.

If international rugby league teams never developed enough to beat Australia then the only rugby league played around the world would be centred in NSW and Queensland. Rugby league would then become even less international than AFL.

True, its good to see other nations stepping up. If International Rugby League is going to become anything to aspire to then the competition needs to be there. No point in playing it if Australia are going to whip everyones arse every time. International RL would be about as prestigious as international Lawn Bowls.

Its why SOO is a higher pinnacle cos the standard and intensity is much higher. I think the majority of players if asked would rather play SOO than the Four Nations, which is why i don't see this result as anything to get upset about, especially at this time of yr. Go watch the cricket if it makes you that bitter.

Sheens' Aussies couldnt wrap up the ball runners.
Sheens' Aussies couldnt stop the offloads
Sheens' Aussies couldnt bend the line
Sheens' Aussies more defense, less metres
Sheens' Aussies dominated in every aspect.

….....memories.....

Good to see kiwis win yesterday. They were by far the better side.

Aussies can only lament the number of injuries pre-tournament but it also allays the myth that Australia could pick a second or third rate team and still win.

It also highlights the weaknesses of coach Tim Sheens. To pick a squad with bugger all front row forwards assumed that he would implement a mobile game plan to run the bigger blokes around. However, what I saw was second rowers playing in the front row who continually tucked the ball under their arm. Not to mention those same people missing too many tackles on opposition front rowers

I can understand a club coach having to deal with limited selection of props taking into account injuries and the salary cap but a national coach not picking an appropriate number of specialist props in a squad from the entire NRL competition? It just beggars belief.

Don't get me started on Dylan Walker. Completely out of his depth.

Tim Sheens will get his contract extended but he will never be an NRL coach again.

Thank you New Zealand. You have put the fly in our ointment. Well played.

I'm not a Kiwi and I enjoyed the game for what it was. The Kiwi's played Rugby League how it should be played. Fast, aggressive, skillfully and with determination.

What was not to enjoy?

Lay off the Kool-aid.
