Aaron Woods fit to pounce for Tigers
Christian Nicolussi From: The Daily Telegraph February 18, 2011 12:00AM

WESTS Tigers fans should jot down the name Aaron Woods.

The 19-year-old has been held in high regard by coach Tim Sheens and former assistant Royce Simmons for a few years, but injury has kept him from realising his potential. The prop has been named on the two-man bench for tomorrow's trial against Parramatta and is considered a real chance to force his way into the NRL.

Teammate and fellow giant Keith Galloway, who will start up front with Junior Moors against the Eels, said Woods had plenty of potential and oozed talent.

Galloway himself has enjoyed an injury-free off-season and has set his sights on another Blues jumper.

I dont recall Galloway playing for the Blues. Is that correct???

He must mean another blue jumper to go with his old sharks one.

I think they may be refferencing Galloways selection in the squad prior to his knee injury in 2009(?)

There has been some discussion re Woods in the " Parra Trial" and the "fwd to improve" threads

Here is my question

If Aaron Woods is the next big star @ only 19 and is being fast tracked to FG, Barring unforeseen injury, Whose spot will he be taking???

There are only limited spots and Coach Sheen will (rightly so) have a Utility/Back on the Bench.

Cayless is already gone so….. Will Dwyer/Fifita/Moors miss out.

Personally I feel long term Fifita and Woods will be battling for a spot unless Andrew really shows improvement in work ethic and effective minutes and cleanup defence

If Fifita doesnt increase his workload, he will be lucky to play 10 NRL Games this year. Sheens clearly identified this with the inclusion of BMM getting more and early game time ahead of Fifita in the Finals Series.

Woods will offer more than both BMM & Fifita, once he works up to the pace of NRL Level!

Personally,I can't see nothing wrong with 8 Gibbs,9 Farah,10 Galloway, 13 Heigno,12 Ellis,11 fulton,14,Dwyer,15 Payten,16/17 BMM/Fifita/Woods.
Fulton can cover backs, with Brown on the wing fullback is covered, why do we need a back on the bench.

The other thing to consider is at Payten's deal runs out at the end of 2012\. Woods and Fifita will still be babies in terms of prop development by that stage so there could very well be room for the both of them down the track if they keep developing and working hard on and off the field.

I'm loving the look of the up & coming pack of youngsters, hopefully we can hold onto em all

The main thing Woodsy has over Fifita is excellent defence & a huge engine!!

They are both formidable yardage-makers - but Aaron loves to tackle - and has great lateral movement in defence for a big man!

He is also a lovely & humble bloke who lives for the Tigers - I see him as yet another life-time player for us if we bring him along correctly!

While I have a huge admiration & respect for Jay Schirnack (and would love him to join our back-row rotation on a regular basis this year) - I have to agree with Watto that Woodsy may be the man to watch in 2011 - but 2012 is more likely to be his year!

Very good to hear. Can't wait to see him go around.

Just awesome to think their could be someone with more potential than Fafita in the forwards already. Fafita really made a name for himself amongst fans of other clubs last year I noticed.

I would love to see the bench look like 14.Schirnack 15.Woods 16.Fifta 17.Murdoch ,the bench would be awesome
