I love rumours as much as the next guy but the fact of the matter is that Aaron Woods has publicly stated he doesn't want to go anywhere.

IF he does move on, it won't be the end of the world if we back up with some huge signings for 2015\. I will lose my s*** if we don't sign some big names in 2015.

Good idea we let our best local players go so we can sign some big names…like Blair ? Anasta ?

Who are the big names that would remotely be interested in coming to this club ?

I never said a good idea would be to let him go. The whole point of this discussion is that he may be enticed to move if he is offered a big contract. If that happens we really have two options.
1\. Use the money we would have spent to get a big name to replace him.
2\. Whinge, cry and tell ourselves we are shit.
You seem to be stuck on option 2 but I implore you to consider option 1.
Which back to your question who are these big names? This is what the whole damn discussion is about. If we have enough money in the salary cap to offer a lucrative contract we may be able to entice anyone. What about James Graham? There is an example of someone coming off contract we could throw a big pile of cash at which would be damn well worth it. He wouldn't even have to move far.

Not concerned by this at all to be honest. I am confident Woods will be a Tiger for awhile yet.

Yes ….. There were those who weren't concerned when rumours surfaced about Boyd, Brown, Ribot and Dorahy going to Manly way back when.

HAHAHA!!! Way back when there wasn't a salary cap, and the money on offer couldn't be matched!!

Woods, is a quality player, I imagine like most quality players, most clubs will be interested, including us….

There is always a chance that someone might make him an offer he cant refuse, but Im sure, we will do our best to keep him.

As has already been noted here, we still don't know how his knee will be after the new surgical technique used. Obviously everyone his hopeful he'll be 100%, but it would be bordering on the insane to offer him a massive new contract only to have him playing 'on one leg' for the remainder of his career. I'm sure Aaron will give the Tigers the last bid on his services.

I still think he will end up at manly

I hope not … One thing I will give them is they do buy well.
I suppose they have to .... They can't develop their own.

The way you lot carry on about someone that shows some promise, you will think the player has already won us a premiership or already carry us to the finals. Why don't you let management do their job? I don't see the bulldogs or the eagles carry on like that as soon as they get a good player. Just look at the number of good players they have, that includes the roosters. No wonder our players are pushed to having their heads in the clouds and forgot how to perform when they got on to the football field. The players have their managers working for tem, they don't need you lot to push their barrel. I like them to win us a few matches first then the management can decide how much each of them is worth.

Option 1 didn't work very well when we let Fafita go and threw a pile of cash at Blair.

I see what you are saying but Fifita was a different case as he didn't want to leave and even if he did we wouldn't have to release him if we didn't want to.
With Woods, come the end of 2014 the decision will be completely up to him. If we match Manly's offer and he still wants to move then there really is nothing we can do about it.

This is why if Woods moves on its not going to be anywhere near as bad for management as it was with Fifita. IMO Sheen's role at the Tigers was finished the moment Fifita started hitting his incredible form and Blair's form slumped to nothing.

We made a mistake letting Fifita go , but I reckon 90% of Forum goers were in agreement that we should have let him go at the time this all happened so you can't blame the club

If only we all had 20/20 vision into the future

Forum goers dont determine who stays and goes….those in charge are supposed to be able to see potential.

Flanagan at Sharks could....we cant get a decent cap calculator so we let him walk

The club, Sheens & Humpty were totally to blame

Not saying the Forum members do have a say , but many agreed at the time with the decision made

They made a choice between Fifita ,BMM ,Groat and Woods at who would be kept

They got it wrong yes , but so did many others

Didn't hear or see 15 other clubs lining up to sign Fifita

Bet they will now , especially Manly

14 other clubs didnt line up for fafita because the sharks sucked us in….they had Gibbs, and called our bluff saying they would only take gibbs if we released fafita

We fell for it

They made a choice between Fifita ,BMM ,Groat and Woods at who would be kept

This is just wrong

Maybe the fact that he has had stem cells injected into his knees must tell you something! Have seen many a talent brought down by bad knees .Will have to wait to see if he still going strong at seasons end.

does anyone have any up to date info about how Aaron's knee issue is progressing?
.
anything would be appreciated.

If we'd paid Fifita what he was asking we would of lost probably Groat , BMM or another up and coming youngster as we would of blown the cap

Many at the time would of thought was madness

He is running at training and so far so good, the knee is holding up fine at this stage.
