Aaron Woods future?Manly possiblly?

With Woods yet to resign for 2015, could we really afford to lose him to Manly.

If we lose him to Manly after investing in him to be a future captain of our club, someone should be held responsible for this debacle.

We haven't had decent props in years, so this would be devastating to say the least.

Money talks.
We'll keep him if our recruitment dept have done their homework and math.

Robbie is our marquee player and Blair takes up a huge slice of the cap so the math and strategy of keeping key juniors has to be sensible. I agree though, Woods is a rep junior we should keep.

I suppose the other important factor is if he sees our team as being competitive in the future. A good season may clinch him for us, a poor one may get him thinking.

I can see him leaving. manly offloaded kite, rose and joe galuvao. Also it's not common knowledge but woods was a massive manly fan as a kid. Also he is close to Andrew johns after making his origin debut and bob Fulton is a NSW selector who is promising him more rep jumpers.

Yeah cos thats gonna be a deciding factor

Manly offer 275K, Wests offer 400K. Woods says ''Sorry Grant, idc about money, id rather move to the club i supported as a kid''

Based on that that logic why did we get rid of Sheens? He would have offered an Australian rep jumper to Woods.

If we make a competitive offer and start the year strong, I'd say he'd be more likely to stay. Who really knows though.

I'm really surprised the club hasn't put a deal on the table already for Woods. You would think offering him an extension now before the vultures come in and bump up his price tag to retain him, that they would be sitting down before the season, with the focus off signings and media hype, trying to come to an agreement. Losing Aaron would be ten steps backwards, our best prop and potentially a future captain.

How do we know the club hasnt done this?
Just because we dont hear everything doesnt mean theyre not active.

He would also have his agent telling him to sit tight, test the water….if some fan on a forum can put 2 and 2 together and assume the 'vultures'' will come with big cheques because hes hot property, dont you think his agent might be cluey enough to figure this out as well, it takes two to tango ....and the club is forced to wait.

Pointless worrying about something that may not even happen.

I don't want to lose Woods, but I don't think we should be paying him $400k a year either. I see him as an attacking forward more in the style of a Sirro second rower. He is not the solid workhorse you need in the front row.

He has great potential and if he stays….great. But if he goes then it frees up money to buy a prop. He and Galloway have a very similar physiques which doesn't balance out the pack.

I am a fan of his, and as I said I hope he stays, an offer of $300k over 4 years would be fair based on what he's done thus far - but would it be enough to keep him?

I probably should have worded it better Ink, you're right the club may very well have tabled an offer. I just find it strange that we haven't heard anything solid at all. Considering we resigned several good young players at the end of last year, I'm pretty surprised Woods wasn't locked up too. Basically I just meant that surely it would be more beneficial for the Tigers to get it done now, then midway through the season, but obviously it's a 2 way street and his manager may opt to ask him to wait longer.

It's getting harder to guess what a players worth may be on the market, but I think Woods could be looking at offers over 400k with incentives for his next contract, with the cap rise and all.

My understanding is he has had those stem cells injected into his knee.

All clubs are watching to see how this works out then its game on imo.

Hopefully he gets fully fit and we resign him.
