Aaron Woods - Signs with Bulldogs 2018 - Sharks 2018 [Official]..

All I know is that next to James Graham, he looked like a big sook. James summed it up perfectly and essentially said we are in a privileged position, so you have to just suck it up when it comes to the media etc… People say oh but he is a young captain blah blah blah.... He is 26, has played about 130 first grade games and played for his state and country. Suck it up mate. There's an easy fix if you're sick of the scrutiny, make a !@#$% decision! Why does he need another couple of weeks?

To help the Bulldogs get their place in order, that's why the delay.

The bulldogs have been doing a lot of behind the scenes work to fit him or the pair of them into the cap. It takes time

He's easier to replace than tedesco

Bingo !!

I cant cop this garbage from any of the players but im more likely to be forgiving when it comes to Teddy for this very reason.

And i also expect more from the captain, whether he want's to be captain or not..

Very hard for Woods to come up trumps next to James Graham - just an impressive bloke.
Not too much wrong with Woods tonight a bit of foot in mouth when asked the tricky questions but if you had it in for him as some seem to have at the moment, he provided opportunity to dig the boot in with some ordinary responses.
Got to do better Woodsy to get the mob back on side.

i dont get it all.
some of you must just seriously hate woodsy or are so frustrated with the whole thing that your all jumping at shadows.

yeah, he dosnt speak "eloquently" - ok fare enough
i thought he was honest.
some of the things he said about making decisions when your in a bad frame of mind were absolutely correct… yeah its a bit dumbed down but it was simple and for me anyways, i preferred it.

lets be honest - the 4 of them didnt sign because they didnt have any confidence in the coach.
thats as clear as day now.
dosnt that also explain why its taken so long ???
and now, yeah...lets see... a few wins... a good team environment .. a good understanding of the new coach and who knows ....id like to think its 50/50 and in that scenario... take a few more weeks if we get a better result ! ! !

people seem to forget, in his entire time as the captain - hes been soaked in controversy.
hes had zero time to warm into it
hes been on the backfoot the entire time
hes doing his best not to fan the flames because we all know he knows alot more than what he says openly..... but stilll..... not good enough aye ??

i mean come on... some of you are talking up james Graham like hes a class act...
he talks well, but hes the type of man the bit another players ear off in a game... a big game...
have you all forgot or do you think "speaking well" justifies being an absolute grub.

yeah yeah, woodsy hasnt decided.. hes had plenty of time... hes a trator if he leaves... how could he.... blah blah blahhhh ....

but what if he stays !
will some of you sorry whingers put your tales back between your legs and start grovelling at how hes the man again. i bet you, you will. sad !

I don't get it at all either mate. Woods is a footballer and a damned good one at that, he's not a bloody politician! And he has every right to take his time making such an important decision about his career, especially considering the history of mediocrity and uncertainty that surrounds this club.

Just because Cleary has come onboard and the team has had one good win, everyone immediately thinks everything is going to be rosy from now on and Woods should just jump onboard and damn well sign or go. Woods isn't stupid, despite what many on here think. He's heard all the claptrap and promises from past coaches and management before only for it all to come to nothing.

I totally understand why he is waiting to see what direction the team and the club is taking under Cleary and who they might be looking to sign from other clubs to help balance the team out, now they actually have some cash to spend. Understandably, Tedesco is doing exactly the same thing, but for some reason, he has escaped being spoken about in the same derogatory way that Woods has been on here.

First he was waiting to see who the next coach is gonna be.
Then he wants to see what direction the club is going to go.
Now he wants to see what players the club will sign.

Ok well the club has got the coach , but the coach/club
cant go and sign players or show what direction its going
whilst he's not telling the club what his and teddys intentions are..
i dare say theres quite abit of cash between the signing of woods and teddy
that the club needs to kniow what to do with sooner rather than later.

Because Tedesco is not the captain of the club. How many times does this need to be explained?

Woods has had months to decide, what is waiting a few more weeks going to achieve? Its a stalling tactic. He flat out lied when he said he hadn't even sat down with his manager. What a load crap. Kent looked at him like he was an idiot. He doesn't want to be here, how much more obvious does it need to be before you can see it. All we ask as supporters is to show respect to the club and tell the club so the club can move on. He's had long enough.

It's rather simple for me Flip and think you'll agree I am not one prone to hysterics, but he is the club captain, doesn't matter which club, and should act like one. I have wanted him to stay, but like many have been stating, he should step aside if he does not want or cannot perform the role for whatever reason.

If he ends up going to the dogs, having known that they have been clearing the decks to allow that, then he will have lost all respect from me and will not even cheer for him, unlike with Farah whom I did despite wanting him gone. As for the others, as they have no official capacity I don't expect leadership from them, just loyalty to their teammates and respect for members/supporters.

I know its too late for all of this but you know, it isn't hard to handle the press if that has been an issue for Woods et al.

All he had to say from Day Dot was….."Guys, I wont be making any comment about my contract and where I'll be beyond this point. Please direct all of your questions to my manager. I just want to focus on playing some good footy here with the boys and the club and fans...anything else could be a distraction to my footy. Once my manager has sorted through all the options I make a decision and let everybody at the appropriate time. " Any future questions met with a steely glare and move on......

Not rocket science but then again most footballers aren't really top loaded are they.

This wouldn't stop the press from writing garbage as they will write what they want to write regardless but at least it would take pressure of the player, the team, the fans and make them seem much more professional and likeable all round.

Woods said Wests Tigers fans are the best..

A couple of years ago Tedesco said he wanted to stay with his mates at Wests Tigers.

Someone pulled up an old news release where Tedesco said he would take less and convince others to do the same, to stay together!

If this had been Woods who had said this, can you imagine the uproar from those who are busy offering derogatory comments towards him.

That's why he is treating the fans like crap
His body language gives it away that he is over it all.
Strong player but a very weak leader.

Isnt Garreth Widdop the captain of his club and dont StGeorge have a very competitive $2,2 mil offer on the table?
Whats his hold up ? - Considering his options, one of them being us. But we are all fine with that.

I do feel abit sorry for Woods, hes a talented young player that in my opinion got the captaincy to early and under bad circumstances.

I hope he signs on as I think a coach like cleary will level things out for him.

My read on woods is he was out the door if Taylor continued to coach for whatever reason he was unhappy playing under Taylor. Taylor got the punt and his giving this cleary fella a go. I think due to cleary woods will stay with us. I think attacks on his character on here are unreasonable

Have you ever heard of the Peter principle?

The Peter principle is a concept in management theory formulated by Laurence J. Peter and published in 1969\. It states that the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and "managers rise to the level of their incompetence." Wikipedia

This fits Woods to a tee

IMO he doesn't want to be here IF the Bulldogs can organize their roster mess and be able to afford him. He will be "on the bus" though if they can't manage to do that. He will view WT as the 2nd best option and fall back on that if need be. Not the sort of captain you'd want IMO.

Totally agree.. I am thinking he is holding off signing to give Dogs time to organise the SC.
That is a really poor act if true and makes sense while he keeps pushing it back..
Make a decision already..
