Aaron Woods - Signs with Bulldogs 2018 - Sharks 2018 [Official]..

Let's not sugar coat it any longer.
From reading these forums it is apparent that most fans don't want Woods as captain and a great many don't even want him at the club.
I am certainly one.
I am no crusader but this thread has almost become a "Woods Out" campaign - and rightly so.
Woods is a good player but a rubbish spokesman and advocate for our club. Let alone captain.
Like I've said before, if people thought we were like a sinking ship, then this guy is the captain of the Costa Concordia.

Well if the Captain removed the hair from his eyes so he could see where he was going , manned up and took some leadership he may have helped steer the ship into safer waters.

Bye bye woods … You won't be missed !

Well I hate to be one of those people with the "my mate told me that…."

But I've been told by a very reliable source (inbox for name) that both Woods and Tedesco have not signed anywhere yet and none are in COP.

I've been told that Woods is likely to sign with dogs, but hasn't signed yet

And that Tedesco will likely stay at the Tigers, money is too good to refuse, but if we get put on show against doggies and the next couple of weeks continue to not show any improvement don't be surprised if he changes his mind.

Matalino is in COP period, as is Milne.... things can change with Milne as he might backflip if he gets some first grade into him at dragons, but they don't have long

Enquired about Hopatate and Vete

Take it as you want, it doesn't bother me but this is what I've been told.

https://sportstalk360.com/wests-tigers-sign-ben-matulino-for-2018/

This appears to support the claim on Matulino.

Just got a message Last night from someone at the club Maulino be announced next week to coincide with Woods leaving. I know it's old news but the offer is closer to 450 a season. Woods I am told has taken 900 +100 TPA with the Dogs. It's good news for the Tigers. It's out of control Woods is not Glen Lazarus.

If those figures are correct Woods would be nuts not to jump at that. Puts things into perspective for me.We are in no position to compete with that with our current squad. So be it.

I see no reason to be overjoyed about this. our pack will be weaker and thats even if we get Mautalino and at least another prop.I feel many people on here will learn to regret his loss.If Tedesco also leaves it will be even worse

Well said Jadtiger - took the words right out of my mouth.

Rebuild, opportunity to start from scratch, if they want to go, good riddance, we'll have more money to buy a couple of replacements - sure we'll soon see how this goes.

Woods will be a mammoth loss, I am sure Matulino was being looked at in addition to hanging onto Woods - not as his replacement. 3/4 of one for one is putting yourself behind the eight ball. Packer is a plodder even in a good team, Would Graham come to us, do we even want him - poor state of affairs.

Teddy goes - there is no replacement (Dugan,, Johnson [as full back], Gordon) please tell me you really don't think this.

All these names being bandied - Cronk, Bird, Maloney, Johnson (as half back), Milford etc.
These are all dreams, pie in the sky and just plain wishful thinking - getting them to the Tigers (some already signed) is next to no chance. Widdop is a 5% chance at best. The next best available is a massive step down even from Moses.

There are plenty of players coming off contract for 2018 but they are a very poor lot imo already, let alone when we get to go into the market. Most good players have already been snapped up or signed for at least 3 years - that means we are looking at 2021\. Take out the real plodders, the grandfathers and dopes - the pool is shallow.

You can rebuild (we have tried to do that a few times) - you need players that are at least recognised as more than above average, want to come to the Tigers and are available.

All the money in the world won't help if you are a club that is a Leper.

I am usually a very optimistic person but it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We are in for a long haul of heartache methinks unless Cleary has a magic wand - I don't think he has

If that figure is even remotely close that is bloody stupid money.

Very sad to see Woodsy go. But if we're getting McQueen and Matulino for $850 then it has worked out well for us.

Stop being a sad sack and just see how it plays out Russell. There are good players on the market. Our club is Sydney based. We have a coach that is well respected and has existing relationships with a number of players (don't underestimate the value of this). Just think of it as interesting times.

No joy here Russell. I too rate Woods - I just think the reality is he wants out.
I just dont see any other alternative other than to secure the best of whats available for reasonable money.
What is even more concering is that there seems to be very little on the horizon in our juniors to also bring through.
The irony is we are finally have gotten into a good positon financially yet in the mean time we seem to have created a perception with some that we are a risk not worth taking.

i said to a Doggies Supporter mate of mine that Woodsy might be going to them
His response was "no thanks"

Not many rugby league supporters view him as a quality player. Everyone views Tedesco as a quality player.

People Drool over Tedesco, including myself and im sure many others here.

He is a gifted player(they dont come everyday) and it will be a real shame him walking out on us.

Im sure he will regret it when/if we win a premiership and he is not wearing out stripes at the time

Woods will look back in time and realise what an absolute Tool he's been in the way he's handled his contract negotiations and his very poor captancy …

Good riddance to the FLOG !

So we'll just do what everyone else does and poach other people's juniors. It could be a good thing. I think we've probably locked up too much cap in recent years trying to hold onto our juniors. Having none worth hanging onto could be a blessing in disguise.

Good riddance to the FLOG !

I dont think he will at all. He has no idea. Can you imagine James Graham, current frontrower and captain of his club, lying on his back staring into space on the field while his team mates are split into different sections working on specific things related to their game?? No way Graham would do that. He would always lead by example. Not Woods. Or maybe Woods was working on his game by lying on his back??? Thats how he ends up after every run.

This is a great description of Woods. I'm a little concerned now that the news of him leaving isn't official. Please make it official.

Pretty hard to argue with any of that. I can't imagine us making any marquee signings for 2018 and in reality our team next year will be a lot weaker than this year. We're in big trouble.
