Aaron Woods - Signs with Bulldogs 2018 - Sharks 2018 [Official]..

Cronulla is his most likely destination. Wanted to come here this year - we said no.

Come on surely Cleary , Pascoe or Kegs has a sense of humour

Why couldn't we of dragged him along until June 29 and then pulled the pin :smiling_imp:

And the last message , "Sorry Aaron , it is what it is …............"

Geez if clubs are only going to pay half of his $900K contract, we would be silly not to look at him.
I hated the way he carried on in the media after he signed with the Dogs, but at least he put in on the field last year unlike MM.
The other thing he wants to come here, so he should realise what he left, and he should put in.
I know I’ll get blasted over this but at that price he should be value for money.

It's a flipping joke that the Sharks (who are becoming the new Roosters with no salary cap) .. how in hell can they afford Gallen, Fifita, Moylan, Dugan, Lewis Holmes, Graham Townsend .. there's eight players close to or over million a season and they paid double for Ava of what we were paying him (must have been only $2 bucks apparently) .. and now they are after Woods for this season which means they get him within a week or two .. wait there's more .. and they are still after Barba, but wait there's still more, they say they still have money in the bank .. so when did Uncle Nick go out and buy the Sharks .. ??

I am with you on this one as well….. You have just rattled off 8 rep players in the one team yet we struggle to have any..
I still believe TPA should NOT be apart of the salary cap and that all players should be played through the NRL... Just makes my blood boil..

There is one guy whos a Shark supporter that puts massive TPAs into the Sharks he has a pharmaceutical in the shire and is the same guy that gave local council close to 2 million to fix some sporting fields in the shire

I will ask you this question then - With the Tigers turnaround and everything stable why carnt we attract someone to pay high TP payments so we can have 10 rep players??

It just sounds too suss to me and where there is smoke there is fire

And its not as though the Sharks have cheated in the past - oh wait.

Just farcical if the Roosters rumour comes about. Cap management a joke- where / how does the NRL register contracts at this mid-season stage- surely they make the clubs verify cap compliance. No doubt the magic TPA's will appear.

Cronulla in box seat and kudos for sticking to their guns.

Bulldogs standing on their pride but Im not sure of the wriggle room they would have. At what stage to the NRL cap auditors strike? Mid season or end of season and does the penalty get worse if they make no attempt to shed players mid year to get under the cap? edit- possible fix of cap compliance by shedding Mbye and Woods mid season rather than end of season.

I agree.

We are a quality front rower short.

Woods is quality, plays 80 minutes, and will have the dogs subsidising a decent portion of his contract … i fail to see the downside.

If Woods played 80 minutes then his side would be getting decimated in the middle behind the ruck. He can play good minutes but not that good and when he gets gassed it's his defence that suffers - he struggles to get back and he makes lazy efforts. 55 minutes over 2 stints is probably his sweet spot.

I thought Woods was mostly very good for us. pre 2017\. Once he did his knee and continue to get bigger areas of his game suffered. I could be wrong but IMO I think the game will continue to get faster and he won't be as valuable. He can still do a job in the middle but doesn't command anywhere near the money he is on. All teams need lots good front rowers in any squad so market value will still see Woods on decent money. No one is going to get him for under 500k. So I don't think the WTs will chase him.

Someone or two will have to go from the Rorters hope this doesn't cause any unrest with the playing group.
So far SBW,MARTY now WOODS have been touted as new signing with the Rorters they must have upgraded there Sombrero to a beach umbrella

Woods is not going to the Roosters wouldn’t make their bench Napa, JWH. Tukiahou, Liu,
Are all better players.

If Woods is unhappy at the dogs, imagine how he'll be at the capons. There will be real expectations he will perform.

If the interchange is reduced to 6 then guys like Woods will need to play the big minutes.

I'd say there is a better chance of getting 80 minutes out of Woods on a consistent basis then any of our current Front Rowers. Even if it means shifting him to the edge for portions of the match, it is a problem that all coaches will have to deal with.

And the 80 minutes issue aside, he is still a quality player who would make us a better side overall. I get he has left a bad taste in the fan's mouths, but bad tastes disappear quickly when a team is successful.
