Adam Blair To Broncos (CONFIRMED)

Thank You JT ! Thank you Thank you. It's almost worth starting a JT is Killing it Thread 2

Now who was the person who claimed Blair would be our next captain ?

Never a Wests Tigers man…..hope you enjoyed your holiday Blair...good riddance.

I think we may see tapau as a starting second rower next year. On the left edge, or even at lock so he can stay in the middle.

We had a pretty average 2014 and close to our best players were Austen,Thompson and Blair and now they are gone!!!!

One thing having a long term plan, but except for a core of fanatical supporters, most other punters are very fickle and will drop off like flys, and without healthy crowds everything goes pear shape.

You would have to think Taylor is telling Porkies re signings for 2015, we could not be anywhere near our cap limit now. Anyway 2015 is starting to look like yet another year on struggle street

He was never worth the money.

Very strange announcement. If smoke screen for new players then lying in your first communication is a massive call.

We must have genuine cap space now.

Blair 500k
Thompson 250k

Both were in the plans even after the books were balanced.

Adam Blair was one of our best players this season , along with young Austin when he was on the field , we had very little good players this year , Major loss I would have been extending Blair for 2 more years , we are now loosing quality along with the average clubs turn over every year , my concern is nobody looks like coming here with real talent , I hope the mess this place was in as well as a young coach with little experience is not the problem , we should have heaps of money right now with this amount leaving or getting punted , I shudder 2015 is going to be a very long season

Can someone explain something to me?
Taylor says we won't be making any major signings for 2015, but if Blair only had 1 year left on his contract why have we released him?
He would have been off contract the following year anyway, either way he have more money to sign players for 2016, but releasing Blair means we now have a disastrous looking back row next year.

Because we are over the cap for 2015?

Only thing I can think of but its ridiculous if we are.
Farah must be getting $2mil a season.

We’re planning for long-term success here and any decisions regarding signing new players will be made with this in mind,” he said. “We have a great group of young players coming through the Wests Tigers system and from what I’ve seen of them so far I’m confident that they will develop into a strong group of NRL players."

I don't trust a word that comes out of Jason Taylor's mouth. He makes it sounds like they meant to release Blair and Austin, as if running a basket case club that decent players walk away from is all part of the grand plan. Behind the scenes they would be packing it. When he says 'we're planning for longer term success" he means "we're expecting to get reamed in 2015, but we're hoping things will improve in a few years if some of these kids come good and don't get poached by more functional clubs"

If I can speculate for a moment, I reckon the Tigers couldn't retain a sponsor to pay Blair's TPA money, forcing their hand on his release. In a one team town he'll have no problem finding a third party to pay him in addition to the cap.

Just musing, offseason threads are what they are.

So going by taylors quotes 2015 is essentially a write off?

The club's action today are a sign of financial desperation. Instead of pulling the jumper over the supporters' eyes why doesn't the club be honest and come out and say outright that Blair was released because the club is CAP BROKE and even though Blair has been released CANNOT AFFORD to buy any further new players for 2015.

As a supporter I am totally sick of the way that the club is keeping its supporters completely in the dark about its undoubted financial crisis. Trying to appease the situation by buying "penny dreadful" players is not going to get the club anywhere past being a joke..

I get the feeling the club had high hopes of shopping a few big contract players around, the likes of Lawrence,Moltzen and Galloway to get cap relief only not to get a nibble, so now they have been forced to release Blair.

Although they must have some space because they had Thompson signed up on a new deal only to release him on compassionate grounds and now Blair is gone. The million dollar question, are we paying some of Blairs contract money for 2015 ????I bet we are

I think you are spot on Cosimo. The majority of WT supporters are being taken by WT management as a bunch of naïve kindergarten kids.

They're like that mate who doesn't admit to having no money until you actually get to the bar, so it's all just awkward.

i hope we are signing someone to fill in for him. at this stage i seriously worry what JT's plan is. he states we need more players at second row and center then releases our most experienced second row and then claims to not be signing anyone any time soon. it just doesnt sit well with me. either JT has completely lose it or his got an ace up his sleeve his just waiting to pull out. god i hope its the ace.
2-3 good solid, doesnt have to star FG's signings and i might regain my hope for next year and a top 8 finish. but at the moment i dont want to think about next year

Must be using cap money to pay for all the new coaches and a truck load of support staff!!!!!!The club needs at least one if not two very good signings just to generate interest and get the membership drive going. After all the hype and positive vibes around Taylor getting the job will fade away to nothing without giving the punters some glimmer of hope for 2015

No great loss

I think that's harsh but fair. I think even Adam would admit that his impact was nowhere near as effective as anticipated.
Am pleased to see the Tigers taking care of business. This was a good call for now and the future.

The only thing that gives me a bit of hope out of all this is that Taylor, Moss and Co must have known what they were getting themselves into cap wise before taking on these gigs. What Penrith went through shedding players was similar to what we are seeing at the Tigers. That seems to have worked out OK for the Panthers after a couple of years, but it is pretty clear that 2015 is a write-off for us.
