Adam Blair To Broncos (CONFIRMED)

“The Tigers have stuck with me through the ups and downs and I like the club, **but** they have a new coach (Jason Taylor) coming in.”

Obviously doesn't rate JT.
But being the telling word.

Maybe that means JT wont put up with his sub par performances like Sheens and Potter did!…

Now I am absolutely confused as to why the hell did we release him when Taylor comes out and says we need to strengthen the 2nd row and centres yet releases Gavet, Thompson and now Blair all 2nd rowers and let's not forget our POTY Austin FFS and now Taylor comes out and says we won't be buying anyone now for next year we'll were screwed

what message does this send to the remaining players in the tigers pack. we dont have the fire power to match it with most NSW cup sides never mind the other NRL sides. What happens if woods or tapau turn around and say they want out do we release them too, what a joke of a team we have become.

Can't blame them if they did

If we were relying on Adam Blair to resolve our defensive defficiencies nexty year, then gee whiz we were in for a crook season! Fact is we got a little over a year of decent game time from him, even though he was not injured at all. He has freed up likely half a million dollars for next year, and I would expect that Taylor has his eye on some real talent coming off contract next year.

My concern is that our good young players are going to get used to getting flogged week in week out next year. But there is good young talent in that squad, and I still expect we will pick up a player or two before kick off.

I am surpised, but so be it. I thought many on here would consider it an early Xmas present. Saved us 4 penalties agame!

The only thing that gives me a bit of hope out of all this is that Taylor, Moss and Co must have known what they were getting themselves into cap wise before taking on these gigs. What Penrith went through shedding players was similar to what we are seeing at the Tigers. That seems to have worked out OK for the Panthers after a couple of years, but it is pretty clear that 2015 is a write-off for us.

Thing is even when Panthers were releasing Jennings, Lewis, Gordon etc they still signed some decent NRL standard players - Segeyaro, Sika Manu, Lewis Brown, Whare to complement their kids. We haven't made those sort of solid signings.

Next year looks like there'll be 14/17 players in the NRL squad under the age of 24, most of whom under 22, which is just too imbalanced. We need some experienced NRL quality starters, having your starting lineup and backups all being kids is way too risky.

Agree, there needs to be some players coming in to make sense of this. Whilst Taylor's comments would indicate otherwise, these guys are not fools and must see that we need more back-rowers.

Adam Blair…I will not miss:

* His 3 or 4 penalties per game....
* His lazy marker defence....
* His sub 100M per game...
* His inability to walk the talk.....
* His promises to deliver....

Have to agree. Whilst he had a better year this year have people really forgotten his first two? I would prefer to see Ava and Sue at half the price of Blair!

I have done the maths:

If Blair averages 4 penalties a game, and an average penatly kick makes 35 metres, then Blair costs 140 meters per game.

However, when he pulled his socks up and had a dig, he would make 68 metres yardage on average for us per game.

The season goes for 26 rounds.

So as I see it, we are $500,000.00 and 1,872 meters better off!

Short term pain for long term gain (hopefully)
Thats the only sense i can make out of it (JTs reiteration we will not be recruiting)
That said, I find it hard to forget Blairs games where he went MIA and did SFA

The exit door getting a good workout with the entry locked firm is a concern though

But Tiger Smurf ,we need some experienced players who don't get injured. We are left with Galloway, who clearly no one else wants. Farah and Woods will be targeted and pounded by other clubs. I''ll bet they're both damn worried about what 2015 looks likely to dish up for them week in week out

I do agree with you. But I dont want us running around like the Dragons and signing a dozen nuffies. Look at the quality the Dragons have let go, and then who they have signed. Cutters will have the best team in the comp next year!

I am concered about depth and experience, but I don't think Blairs heart was every really in it. And that is hard for me to say because I liked the guy.

Thanks Adam for helping us use up our cap space for 3 years.

With any luck we can buy two backrowers with his money, both of whom will get us better service over 3 years too.

6 months of good footy for us doesn't warrant him being retained.

Taylor did right to ship him off.

I just hope he has someone in mind to buy for the back row.

Guerra would be great *wishful thinking*

I think we are front loading some contracts in 2015

Jt, coming from the Roosters who have admitted to front loading big player contracts, has got a plan. Would sacrifice 2015 if we had a team like the chooks in 2016\. Must be some big names out there who JT has is eyes on.
You're spot on Sirro

Shame I think he was in for a big year being off contract next year. I will forgive the tigers for this only if we do make some good signings before 2015 season start (skd, mcqueen etc). JT said this doesn't necessarily mean we will be signing players now, but this doesn't mean we won't. He's not going to say we release adam because we need the money to sign shaun kenny dowall for example.

gee, releasing Blair to buy SKD would be such a pointless transaction.

Swap one plodder in the forwards for a plodder in the backs.

I certainly hope that doesn't happen

Quick to shoot from the hip when you dont even know the full story.

No wonder the club will never give the fans voting rights for positions on the board. This place would be a total shambles. Some of you blokes are just priceless.

See you in February.

The club's action today are a sign of financial desperation. Instead of pulling the jumper over the supporters' eyes why doesn't the club be honest and come out and say outright that Blair was released because the club is CAP BROKE and even though Blair has been released CANNOT AFFORD to buy any further new players for 2015.

They're like that mate who doesn't admit to having no money until you actually get to the bar, so it's all just awkward.

You should ask Seinfeld about the club being broke . He was banging on recently about how Mayer had turned us into a financially solid club. . Someone must have wads of money in their desk drawer then, because it's Not going on players.

does anyone even understand how the salary cap works???

we get GIVEN 7 million a year by the NRL for our salary caps. No club is unable to pay its players, EVER. Even the knights paid their players when they didnt have any money or owner cause the nrl stepped in.

If we want to hit the 6.2 mil cap we can, but we likely will stay under in 2015 just like the chooks did in 2012.

Not sure about Taylor - there are only 16 jobs going and it's not like he's Craig Bellamy, so he may just have thought something's better than nothing. But agree wholeheartedly about Moss. Difficult to imagine he'd take a job without checking what the situation was.

I'd also agree that maybe this is exactly what we need to do. That said, at least at Penrith they were vocal about having a five-year plan or whatever. I can entirely accept that what's going on with the Tigers' roster might be for the best, but fans are fickle and will need more information about a long-term plan - or at least assurances that there is one.
